Forums - Sales Discussion - Two variable analysis: Xbox360 Arcade is the best deal, Wii second.

This is a pointless and arbitrary analysis, as others have already pointed out.

Consider two hypothetical systems, A and B. A has a library of 1000 games with an average review of 80%. B has a library of 3 games with an average review of 95%. By this methodology, B would clearly be a better value than A, despite the fact that you'd get bored of it after playing those 3 games.

Also consider two hypothetical consoles, C and D. Both are equal in terms of the number of games in their library. System C has an average review score of 75%, and has a large variety of games from different genres. System D has an average review score of 85%, but has only shooters and sports games. By this methodology, D would be a better value than C, despite the fact that you'd probably get bored with the library quickly if you're not a hard-core shooter or sports game fan.

See where I'm going with this?

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

To Garcian Smith.
About the first of your hypothesis. A sample of 50 games is representative in the reference frame (last 12 months).

About the second hypothesis. The sample is for the top 50 games for each console, and that includes different genres. You can look at the data at the reference link. Indubitably each system is more represented by a certain type of genres, but the sample included some variety.

Wii code: 4679-4491-5808-6319,MKWii: 4296-3394-2843; Animal Crossing Wii: 3008-1736-4670.

jose: i think it would have to be the first twelve months of xbox360 games compared to the first 12 months of both the wii and the ps3.

1. flawed system 2. it's a $10 difference! whooopie!

Well ,in fact with the arcade console you dont have hard drive and cant play online as you cant save your profile and save the things achievements .You cant either play Live Arcade games as you dont have Hard drive to donwload them .

So for the arcade console you should just eliminate the reviews of the Live Arcade games and the games that use some kind of multiplayer (Halo 3 ,Gears of War etc ) .

The best value right now is the 80Gb PS3 .For little less that the 360 Elite you have wifi built in ,Blu Ray player built in , a full price game as Motorstorm ,free online gaming (without any fee ) etc etc .

That really depends on how you define the value or worth of a system ...

For the majorty of people who would consider buying any of these systems today HD output and Blu-Ray capability are 100% worthless because they don't have a TV which can display anything at that resolution; so for this majority of potential customers you get to spend an additional $250 (and $10 per game) for pretty much the exact same thing.

lol. this is corny. ps3 is the best deal hands down. currently the xbox360 is the best gaming console.
