Forums - Sales - Two variable analysis: Xbox360 Arcade is the best deal, Wii second.

That's an interesting way to break it down. I wonder how it would look if you factored in the cost of the games themselves.

fkusumot. Yes, that will be interesting... that is one variable that directly influence the scope of the analysis.

Wii code: 4679-4491-5808-6319,MKWii: 4296-3394-2843; Animal Crossing Wii: 3008-1736-4670.

Yeah... Sorry man, but I'm going to have to join the "meaningless analysis" bunch. Which isn't to say that I disagree with the overall conclusion, just that well... it's a meaningless analysis.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Let me just add this, and others can disagree if they want to, but it seems like the feedback you are getting is along the lines of "We like the new approach but its missing something." I think if you have some other ideas on how to approach this similarly but with a different angle or another factor integrated into it you might be on to something here.

Well, I disagree there, Sqrl. Treating a subjective element like review scores as an objective variable like price just doesn't work.

Number of games, or number of exclusives would be better. (Both approaches would likely favor the Arcade, by the way.) But even that's deeply flawed, because at the end of the day a system is only as good as its library, which is in the eye of the beholder.

Just using average scores is pretty pointless. It says nothing about how many great games there are on a console, it's just a calculated average that's useful only if you're buying every game there is.

Actually you do agree.  Thats exactly what I was saying, he needs a new angle that quantifies the value of the console more accurately.

You must remember when making charts like this, that the review scores mean nothing.

After all, the quality of a game never, ever comes into play, nor how many highly reviewed games come into play for a console, ever. The only comparison you can go off of is if it's the brand name of the system you want, and if it's the price you can afford.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

One thing that is missing is the cost of the games. Wii has some cool games like RE 4 for $29.99. How many in the top 50 for the 360 are less than $59.99?

jlauro - more than half of them.
