Forums - Sales - DSi LL launch in Japan

This beauty will be a bigger seller than most people expected and predicted. I´m pretty sure it will sell very well over the holidays.

I see this console being for everybody that likes DS and it´s games and that will use it more as a homeconsole. If one wants a portable then the DSi or DSL are the way to go. But if one mostly plays at home this is the optimal way of enjoying the vast library of DS games. In this case the DSi LL is the way to go. I do not see this being only for old poeple, it´s just cleverly marketed that way to gain that group of custumers as well.

DS at 28 million in Japan and still selling so much, really unbelievable, it is such a beast

And still someone calls this "the Nintendo Go"...100+k opening confirmed?

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

DS will be remembered as the biggest system ever to hit Japan. It´s still behind the Gameboy family hardwarewise and PS2 softwarewise but it will beat GB and become the biggest hardwareseller. Softwarewise I´m not sure if it will pass PS2 but it already has way more MEGAtitles than for that system. 5 games on the DS reaching sales of 4 million is just unbelivable (4 out of those has reached 5 million!).

I think it´s certainly possible. The first shipment was 150k and these pictures (take them for what they are, it´s very difficult to judge sales from these) show that there is a big interest in the console. It´s more lines here than in any of the PSPgo launch pics anyway. Even if this were not to quite reach 100k for the week I believe sales will go up for the holidays and that further shipments for the DSi LL are likely in the near future.

Indeed, in the last 3-4 weeks DS sales went from 60+k to 40-k, probably 3/4 of DSi LL sales will be just from people who wanted to buy a DSi and after the announcement have waited for the DSi LL. Then there's also the people who didn't want to buy a DSi but now has been convinced.

IMHO next week numbers for DS will be well over 100k, probably near 130k, and 100+k from the DSi LL.

Ah, I couldn't resist. I went down my local electronic store.(actually one of the same stores in the picture, except it's in my city, hehe) and I picked up a DSi LL (Wine Red color).
I guess my DS Lite will become my portable/gba game system. I mostly play at home anyways. :)

Good for you! I´m jealous. Did you notice anything regarding the sales? Did it seem like there were a lot of people buying the console?

wow, i thought this wan't going to sell well, but i should no by now don't underestimate nintendo. wonder if this is why ds sales have been lower than the psp's these past weeks. people holding off to buy this?

wonder how this will do overseas
