SCE boss Kaz Hirai’s told reporters in Japan that he’s “confident” of hitting 13 million PlayStation 3 sales in the fiscal year ending March 2010.

Global, reported PS3 hardware sales stand at 4.3 million for the first two quarters of this FY.

The exec also said that Sony’s planned online, cross-format entertainment system will definitely launch next year.

The network will deliver “movies, music, books and other content to network-capable TVs, Blu-ray players, ebooks and others,” according to this Reuters report.

So who thinks Sony can make this estimate?

I hope they reach at least 10 million.  That way Sony can actually control more of the Japanes market and futrure content threw "Down Loads".  Then the "Future" ~with Sony~ will begin...

i think final fantasy may well push it to that goal lol, plus lets not all forget the slim effect, that has had wonderful results so far, keep on goin sony, i know you can do it (or atleast come close)

piece of cake, they know they are going to have a huge holiday season! and they have huge games releasing within the fiscal year, they have god of war 3 and final fantasy 13 worldwide and GT5 in japan. does anyone know when GT5 releasing in europe? we know the games gonna be complete by march so why are SCEE making us wait damnit!

Now VGC PS3 sales are 8,026,598. So less than 5 million to 13 million until March 31, 2010. Kaz should be talking about shipped figure and shipped figure sales are around 9-10 million.

3-4 million until March 31, 2010 with holiday boosts??? It's almost certain.

I predict near 15 million sales for shipped figure... 2 millions more than Sony.
