Forums - Sony - Sony launches console...You won't believe this.

_______________________________________

Yesterday, on November 18, 2009, Sony Computer Entertainment made its latest console launch in Brazil: the PlayStation 2.

Priced at R$799 (just over £279), the nine-year-old console is now set to become the hottest gift in South America this Christmas, perhaps competing with the Sinclair C5 and Jurassic Park on VHS.

According to Gizmodo Brazil, there is hope for Brazlian punters hoping to join the rest of the world in the 21st century; Sony apparently sells some older PS3 games in the country (£69 each, thanks) - just not the actual hardware to play them on. Hmm.

At those prices, it's no wonder piracy is quite popular in South America.

Though it didn't have the prices. Holy shit, £280 for a PS2? It's some £80 in the UK. And they are charging DOUBLE for an old PS3 game what it costs NEW in the UK.

I believe it, I saw the thread made hours before yours.

I don't believe the price figures, if those are indeed supposed to be British Pound equivalents.

On the other hand, if people gonna pirate the games, keep the hardware price high to at least make good profit on the hardware sale.   For this reason the PSP Go should be dropped to 169.99 (then Sony can make money from game sales) and the 3000, if piracy is still possible, should be raised to 249.99.  Wanna play the stolen SNES library?  Pay.

Xbox has 26 90+ games and 9 of them are console exclusive. Change your sig...

Otherwise do they sell GC or Xbox in Brazil? If not...Brazilians are sure in for some fun time with Halo and Resident Evil 4.

Yeah i gotta go check metacritic; both consoles have gained lately.

Don't worry, I've badgered starcraft to change his sig a number of times when PS3 has been consistently catching up.

I count "full" game releases though.  This means that $20 online games are right out; they aren't in the same league as a great full game. It's not just that the game must be $60, it's that it must be a robust, fully developed experience as expected from an HD game of this generation.

Thus, I'm having a tough time deciding on whether GoW Collection counts.

Holy shit :D
They are so late :P
