VC had very little promotion in Japan, and the anime came after the launch.

jarrod deeply believes, for reasons I can't explain, that Valkyria Chronicles had a huge amount of advertisement. I feel you are quite suited to make a comment on the advertisement though. I'd love to the conversation.

TV cms, in-store promos, an anime (coinciding with the BEST version) a good 2 years of coverage in Famitsu (1 year after release even, basically unheard of for a non FF/DQ/MH game) tell me Sega didn't skimp on this.  It's not FFXIII or MH3 or anything, but it's gotten a far, far bigger promotion than any SRPG I can think of.  Got a bigger ad blitz than any Sega game last year too bar the Yakuza games.

Why do people think it got little promotion actually?

I'm not going to think that Famitsu giving the game coverage (this thing did get DLC and has more on the way) qualifies as advertisement when it's reporting on expansions and DLC, which is what most of the coverage was.

I will say this. I don't live in Japan, but I can comment on what we see from commericials, magazine ads, etc. We also get a lot of information from people living in Japan. I'm not sure where you live jarrod, but I do know hanafuda lives in Japan and I'd trust his word on the matter.

Whatever, I'm just glad Valkyria Chronicles keep on selling. It's such a wonderful game.

This game is wonderful. So much emotion put on it.

I don't think an Anime would be considered advertisement either... unless... You consider all the spin-off disney cartoons advertisment also...

LOL at "sales is still lame"

nice to see spins cause it actually means the game really did gr8 as it makes fanboiz upset.

OT: nice to see VC doing well hope it keeps selling.

Great Sales but considering this is probably the most expensive SPRG ever, its sales are rather dissappointing. Hence why the sequel is not apearing on consoles.

Probably passed up Radiant Dawn by now, too - and if it hasn't then it's inching closer.

Passed Radiant Dawn in March or April.

The last three times you have come to correct m about something I have turned to you and said something like

"Well actually no, we don't have any Others data for Radiant Dawn"

I know, and if you remove Valkyria's Others sales then it still outsold Radiant Dawn as Valkyria has sold more than it in both America and Japan.

EDIT: If the sales are too low to even be tracked in Others, I doubt they'd have any significant effect in this.

It's not that they're too low to be track, Brett just misses Others data for some games - we don't have data for any of the Fire Emblems in Others, nor for the Final Fantasy IV remake. Some games just don't get tracked in that region.

And we can't extrapolate Radiant Dawn's Others sales based on VC's, either.
