The only wired item I'll use is a arcade stick for fighting games. Batteries can't die during a middle of the fight plus the small lag latency could be killer.
It's just that simple.

Is it neccessary for a console to have a cable to the TV ? Without it there would be just one cabl for the Power. And I have read that they are developing some microwave technology so they can transport even electric energie without a cable. It worked already with a light bulb. I think cables are a thing of the past. Maybe in 50 years there wont be cable in any device.

I think I saw something like this. It's a pad that you lay your DS, phone, iPod, etc on it and it charges them. I bet your right that pretty much all cable could be a thing of the past in about 50 years.

Yes but this will go through the air with microwaves you wouldnt even need powerlines and sockets in your house. Your House wouldnt even need a electricity connection. They transported electricity via the air from Maui to Hawaii. In the far future (40-100 years) Batterys would be senseless because every device would have constant electricity supply even cars could work without battery that would change the whole planet.

Exactly. What I was talking about is just a very small first step. Would this be safe for humans and animals? Doctors have been saying they think the microwaves coming out of electronics have been hazardous on a small scale for a long time ( like don't hangout around microwaves if your pregnant).
Ok didnt know that there is already a some working technology with this system.
I am studying medicine myself. Ofcourse I am only on the beginning. But I dont know a study which would show that there is a bad effect on the human coming from microwaves as they are used in the technology today. Ofcourse you can heat up someone if you use strong microwaves lie you can see in your microwave oven.
Microwaves from Wifi and Cellphones are a couple of thousend times to weak to harm the human body. ofcourse there are no long term studys about the effects on the human body. So you should avoid any possibe risk if you are pregnant.
But if you know how many rays and different types of waves are everywhere in the nature which are even much stronger then the waves from a cellphone/technology the risk should be low. The sun is a gigantic nuclear plant which releases the power of thousends of atomic bombs per second. We just have a tiny magnetosphere which breaks down every 100000 years and we still live. In the Core of our earth decays radioactiv material all the time. Light is nothing else then microwaves it has just another frequenzy. Microwaves of this short length shouldnt be able to destroy the nucleus of our cells.
That leds to a lot of discussion in the medicine. We can just say we dont know for sure. Atleast there is no evidence now.
And I dont know how strong the microwaves are which they are using in the MIT for this technology. But they said that its no problem if you are walking around between the source and the device.
After this technology works it has to be tested thoroughly to exclude every possible harm for humans and the environment. But I am confident. Because this could cause a revolution in the future the possibilitys are infinite.
It failed because wireless is very helpful.

Things that I hated about wired controllers
- Trying to figure out which controller is in the first slot and which is in the second or third or fourth (depending on the system), by following the cord from the system to the controller.
- A tangled mess if somebody doesn't know how to fold one up correctly.
- No long distance gaming, if I wanted to play in bed I would have to move the system.
- Falling systems and tripping.
Things that I love about wireless controllers
- None of the above things happen.
- I can play while taking a shit.
Side affects
- I still game close to the tv
- When I lay a controller down on my leg or other surfaces, I still do so as if there were a wire.
- Sometimes I don't know where the hell the controller is.

All 30-40 times my Wii fell on the floor, my drunk friends using the wired GC controller were to blame. Surprised the thing still works tbh
Wired controllers are rubbish
Wow if you grew up in the age of wired controllers as I did you WOULD NEVER ask that question. I dont know how many times I pulled the console to the floor. WIRELESS was one of my favorite things on the 360
PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.
Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game
