This is awesome. 3D is the best thing that happened to gaming in recent years.

You know what sucks about it? It's hard to find a place where we can try it out without buying the expensive Nvidia kit...

I promise if I get it I'll invite you to try it :P you still live in Uppsala right?    <---

Awesome! Yes I do.

Rainbird isn't Wipeout HD a 60 fps game? And the demos with the other games may have used tricks like two PS3s, as your article says.

The article speculates that for the first demos, the solution is several PS3s networked together, it doesn't have any confirmation. And with the original demos, all the games ran at their native frame rates. With the second demo, only the WipEout HD one is shown, still running at 60 FPS, with only one PS3 seen running.

So I guess Squilliam's point still stands, that the only games proven to run normally are at 60 fps.

Squilliams point was that running a game in 3D will effectively cut the framerate in half, which is not the case. For all we know, the first demos could be running on one PS3 as well.

It is the case in all the systems using shutter glasses... the alternative to that is to use those red/green glasses or similar things which screw up the colors or don't work from all viewing angles.

I also looked at a few articles regarding Sony's demo and yeah, it looks like they're using shutter glasses as expected...

in the european store there is a 3D game to download... its says in the description that is the first 3D PSN game and it says that is compatible with more than one 3D technology... if some have bought it could give us a feedback!... anyone??

Proudest Platinums - BF: Bad Company, Killzone 2 , Battlefield 3 and GTA4

BUMP to ask if anyone has tried the 30FPS Avatar game's 3D effect on a 360 with its "low" bandwidth HDMI 1.2 cable, how is it?

EDIT: just to add a disclaimer.

I do know that this is the PS3 forum, but if the 360 version can do 3D with 30FPS games, then obviously the PS3 can too.

120 FPS is needed for a flicker free (cinema like) experience, not because it become 60 FPS but because the lens can shut 60 times per second for each eyes, thats fast enough so the eyes dont notice that there is a lens opening and shuttening. Slower htz can work for 3D, but slower it is, more flicker there is.
