I think I just like reliving my childhood. But 2D sidescrolling seems to only be done well on the Wii.

I think that's what's happening to me too. Last 2 generations I was all over the "hardcore" games. But this generation I saw how Wii was like the NES reborn with all new awesome 2d platformers, and it made me feel like a child again, and I fell in love with it. And now I think I'm starting to hate the HD consoles because they aren't like the wii.

So now I asked for NSMBWii for Christmas and am looking forward to feeling like I am 10 years old again on christmas morning opening up my SMB3.

Well...while I love all the 2D games on the Wii, such as Muramasa, Warioland and a boy and his blob, I certainly didn't start hating HD consoles because of it...

Many of my favorite games are 2D, but that doesn't mean that there aren't some really good games on the HD consoles.  Heck, one of my favorite developers that have mostly stuck to the 'HD' systems are now working for one of my primarily 2D series now.  That would be Team Ninja and Metroid Other M.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

A point I would like to bring up. These people into the "maturity" group, don't only discriminate against other consoles, but "kiddy" "gay" or "retarded" games on their console of choice as well. Most of them are teenagers with nothing else to do but play Halo and Call of Duty all day. It is disgusting how egotistical my generation can get with some things.

The reason i called the platform physics in LBP poor, is because due to the floaty nature of LBP physics, I found that i could always compensate for and adjust what would be bad jumps. Also the majority of levels are way too easy. It is fun, but not challenging enough due to the physics.

Little Big Planet can't equal the magic title of New Super Mario Bros Wii. It is an undefinable multiplayer experience for me.

My cousin tried it. He's a real fan of Ratchet and Clank.

Then, FINALLY, he doubted about Ratchet. He was just amazed by Nintendo's title and now, he loves it as much as A Crack in Time.

What I'm denouncing right now is the great subjectivity of reviews. I mean, New Super Mario Bros Wii is a combination of what makes the series so popular + new features and imaginative levels, and it gets a lower score than Super Mario Bros 3 or Little Big Planet?

I tried Little Big Planet and I didn't love it. Mario still remains the master of platforming and I don't know why this game is so over-rated...

The fact is that Mario's platforming has been done for decades. Nintendo still is imaginative and innovative on its title. Nintendo's consoles are the best for platforming.

Little Big Planet is just acclaimed because it is one of the rare platforming games that appeared on a HD console. New Super Mario Bros Wii deserves as much the acclaim as Little Big Planet.

And I don't care about online. I don't care about level creator. I want to play a game, not create it.

And I can tell you that the game is really long in multiplayer. I spent about 5 hours to come to the middle of World 3 with 2 other people. It was really great moments to share.

then keep your wii and dont keep your PS3. There are awesome games, they just are not for you. There is no point in this thread.

Also, I hate most shooters. My favorite genre is platformer. I've been playing NSMBWii since sunday. I got it at 8am.

AAA?

Uncharted 2 was here. Not system killer. MGS4 was out there.. ehm back in time.

Stop whining!

What was the point of this thread?

You: Dang sometimes I wish I had a PS3.

Us: Well the PS3 does have some great games. Like x and y and z.

You: I hate all those games.

@guiduc... I kind of agree, I would have loved to see how a mario game with a level editor would rate if 1 - it were done before LBP and 2 - it was not in HD. I think mario people would be mad at the change in mario 2D formula. Would have been a curious experiment if it were doable.

Beginning to wonder the same thing.

...

@Zucas:

Yes, absolutely. The review system is all corrupted by hyping and bias toward the Wii console. It's all about subjectivity. More a game as features such as online, level creator or tons of movies, more a game will get a better score. It's nothing about fun, it's all about getting the most for money. That's kinda sad...

An example of the corrupted system: Super Smash Bros Brawl got 91. Guess what? It has a level creator, online, tons of movies and modes and tons of characters. That's what I was figuring out.

So I'm all behind the way Nintendo is thinking: gameplay, gameplay, gameplay to create awesome moments + little features to make me smile (such as the Coin Battle)
If Nintendo just wanted to get great scores, they wanted to add more characters for NSMB Wii, online play, level creator and Here We Go to the 95!

WAKE UP! Mario Galaxy has nothing about online, nothing, just about gameplay and levels! It was awesome (and better than Grand Theft Auto IV, which got 98!!!!) That's the real way of making video games.

Eh... my cousin just called me. He wants me to bring New Super Mario Bros Wii next weekend. Haha.

A video game must remain simple. Period. Long live Nintendo, period.
