Your mistake was talking to your cousin about it. Try getting your parents or girlfriend, a younger relative or a female friend you're not romantically involved with yet.

People make the mistake of thinking there's only one audience for gaming and that's basically it. I got a PS3 and I can tell you, nothing on there is really interesting. The hype and praise is about technology and cinematics. Most people aren't crazy about those two things, but some people are, and they run the status quo of gaming unfortunately.

I have DS and almost got a Wii, but decided on the PS3 recently. I got very disappointed quite quickly, played a bunch of demos and games. None of the games they overhype are worth playing, they're not really fun or charming. It's all a bunch of clunky, not straightforward and stereotyped stuff. Which some people love, but a lot of people don't. Try reaching out to them for playing the games you like, if that doesn't work then just play single player.

hunh! they say this at school every day except with the xbox360! well hes your cousin and you should at least try and convince him to play one of the greatest multiplayer games on the Wii! maybe he will feel stupid or forgot what he said.....

If that doesnt work then dont let it get to you... just have fun.... their games... there made to play and have fun... not argue with each other!!! (at the wrong times, if youre having fun then whose stopping you?!)

PS3 games are overrated and violent but there are so many AAA games on it, except that only Nintendo knows how to make AAA games...

I think the issue here is more your own narrow views than the consoles offerings.

The PS3 is the most diverse system when it comes to AAA games. Yes, there are shooters, but why should there not be? It's a gamer favorite for a reason, just like with all forms of media. Why is there lots of war / action movies? war / action novels? Same reason. We love adrenaline. It makes us feel alive, FPS games are good at this.

But that's not nearly all the PS3 has to offer. It has a stellar lineup of titles from all sorts of genres. To name a few;

LittleBigPlanet, most critically acclaimed and innovative platforming game in many many years. 95 Metacritic, receiver of many GOTY awards.

Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. Reviews are mostly down due to this being a demo. Do not misunderstand them. There is a AAA racing game here, its just not much of one. at 29.99 though, thats a great deal.

Fifa Soccer 10 Best soccer game ever created. Nothing else to say really.

Batman: Arkham Asylum: Amazing game. I know there is violence, but then again, there is violence in the wii's best game Twilight Princess. :P

Rock Band & Rockband 2: Nothing needed here.

Ratchet and Clank: Future Series, Incredibly cute AWESOME 3d platformers, arguably the best ever made.

MLB 09: The show, best baseball game ever made.

WipEout: Super awesome arcade racer.

Demon's Souls: While this is a violent game, it is the single best 3rd person adventure/rpg game in many many years. If you like rpgs and haven't played this, you are hurting yourself.

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger: Anime styled fighter

Flower: Amazing artistic game involving flowers :P

And many many more.

Trine, Motorstorm, PixelJunk, inFAMOUS, Critter Crunch, Shatter, SuperStardust HD and of course

Uncharted 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4. While both of these involve guns, they are third person adventure games, and absolutely phenomenal ones too, the best ever made.

Don't judge a platform by a few games.

The PS3 only has Resistance 1, Killzone 2, Cod 4 and Modern Warfare 2 as "AAA" Shooters. Resistance 2 needs some work IMO.

I know how you feel man. It seems like every game that comes out for the PS3 is hyped up the wazoo and sells like pancakes. Meanwhile nobody talks about the wii games and the games bomb (save a few). I got a PS3 not too long ago, but got quickly disappointed with it and found the games I played, while looking nice graphically, the gameplay was just meh and not my style (Uncharted excepted;loved it) and now am starting to regret buying my PS3.

Now I'm starting to question my gaming taste. How come all these HD games get hyped and sell so much, but I'm not interested in Meanwhile I buy A Boy and his Blob, Klonoa, and Cursed Mountain which all sold like crap, but I really enjoyed.

I think that HD gamers are a loud group, but Wii fans are getting quieter and quieter.

It was only a year since the last one(Super Mario Galaxy) and the release of Little Big Planet.

The simple solution: Buy a PS3 in addition to your Wii.  Its a simple fact that both the Wii and PS3 have good games on it.  Some people may make generalizations that one system doesn't, but both of them do.

And anyone who has to ridicule another game or system to make theirs appear better doesn't have an opinion worth listening to.

Edit: As an aside, I would argue that there are other games besides just Nintendo created games that are 'top quality games'.  Notice, I give them a different distinction than 'AAA' because that's generally associated with being 'perfect' or 'top rated'.  Which many people and reviewers seem to have a bias against the Wii so 'AAA' is not really going to be achieved.

While Super Mario Galaxy is an amazing and stellar game as well, it doesn't do anywhere remotely close to what LBP did in terms of innovation. And its a 3d adventure game with platforming, it's a different genre.

See that's the problem with me as well. I don't care about most of the games you posted, and some that I just didn't like at all. I'll be getting uncharted 2 and maybe try MGS4 in the future. My favorite genre is platformers, so I tried LittleBigPlanet and was bored out of my mind. I played older R&C games and they were just OK. I don't get why these are so popular.
