NMH sold what it did on Wii becasue it was the only half way decent (personally i loved it) "M" game on the system at that time. It sold what it did because there was an emptyness in the "hardcore" Wii market.

So were removing the thing that made the game a blast to play, upresing the graphics, and adding a DoA extra mode....

I sure as hell hope this is released at a budget price, like $20-30, otherwise i cant see it doing well.

So gimmicky motion novelties make up for repetitive game design? I can see how it can be fun for the first while. But after awhile, swishing that mote up/down/left/right is not only going to be not fun but also more tedious than button mashing. The selling point of NMH wasn't the controls. It's the style (the art direction and of course who doesn't want to decapitate people with a light saber and spurt pretty red violence? Much cooler than decapitating with a steel sword or an axe), the story, the social commentary and most importantly, the fact that it was a 'core' violent M-rated game on the Wii.

I'm sorry about I disagree, it was fun until the end, which btw the game was quite short, I beat it in 9hrs.

Whats so great about swishing a wii mote (either up, down, left, right) a gazillion times throughout the 15+ hours of the game to do a finisher? (that is bound to get old) Or using a mote + chuk to do the occassional wrestling move? Or to tilt the mote to aim? I don't get it. It's a novelty compared to the standard gamepad play but doesn't it get old? This isn't a Wii bashing comment. I think the Wii is a good console. I just don't understand how this kind of control scheme is all that great when many other Wii games have used the wiimote to great effect (ie. Tiger Woods 10. I don't even like golf but it looks intriguing on wii motion plus).

It is better then button mashing imo. To those of us who chose the Wii due to its control scheme, it  great. Really that and the style of the game were the only good qualities I thought it had. No More Heroes 2 on the other hand, seems to have some more varied gameplay, that would allow it to transition better on the hd consoles.

The motions immersed you somewhat into the game.

I liked being a swordsman of sorts as Travis; going into every new battle with a different outfit on LOL The wrestling moves switched up the slashing a little bit, and you could get a few more as the game went on.

The boss battles are the main reason I played the game though. It wasn't amazing, but it was a solid 8.0/10. Would definitely buy it now.

I still dont see how a motion can be a more 'gimmiky' than a press of a button. As for the level design, people either love it or hate it. The boss battles are the shine of the game, but you have to go through some crap to get there.

I have to disagree. Killer 7 was a more stlyish game than NMH will ever be, AND it was released on the most popular console ever, but it still tanked.

What's so immersing about swishing left when the game tells you to point left to give out the death blow? I don't get it. It comes off as gimmicky.

.....

Because your character is performing the same motion in game. Its a reflection of whats going on in the game. Its the same motion as that which someone swinging anything would do. If you still dont understand its beyond me, this is like explaining why force feedback adds to a game.

How immersive can it be for the gamer if they are doing the same repetitive motions over and over again though? Is it really immersive if you are bored out of your mind wondering how people can find this kind of simplistic repetition fun? (I can't fanthom how after 9 hours later a gamer is going to be like "oh i slash left now? ok. *slash left* i slash up now? ok. wee this is fun." It's no more engaging after awhile than button mashing. It's gimmicky. No game designer should be using simplistic repetitive gimmicks like this as an excuse to cover up poor game design.

Except it is fun, and to some, it IS immersive. Whether you like the idea or not, this is the case. A big reason why I bought the Wii was for motion controls, and I as many others find them fun, regardless how 'simplistic' it may be.

Hmm, would it be worth getting NMH now? Its pretty cheap (like 15-20€) and I wouldn't mind another game for my Wii.

I'd wait and see if the game gets announced for Western release before you do.
