I know Words of Wisdom is also playing this.

Yep, I'm playing it right now.  It's my first Phantasy Star game so I'm still getting used to all the strange (read: stupid) names of spells and items.

I've got three characters

Class/Race Level Preferred Weapon Mags
HUnewearl 28 Daggers Purple Hagal Yellow Wyn
HUmarl 2 N/A N/A N/A
RAcaseal 41 Handguns Blue Tyrna Yellow Wyn

I'm playing the HUnewearl with a friend so I'm not actually using that character much.  The HUmarl makes free mags and does other assorted stuff.  The RAcaseal I'm actively playing (just finished the neutrino furance) but I'm not really enjoying it as much as the HUnewearl.

My impressions so far:

CAST traps are awful.  They fail to be useful in almost every way.  Only the Heal Trap is remotely useful and it only helps heal party members outside of battle.

6 pallete slots is not nearly enough.  I could really really use more, especially on my HUnewearl where I actually have spells and items I'd like to carry.  L+Start and R+Start aren't useful enough to make up for this issue.

Newman PP regen is awesome.  It's way better than the bonuses of CAST and Human put together.  My friend is drinking fluids by the boatload I'm pretty set for PP all the time.

Swords are overpowered.  Seriously, these things hit harder than other weapons and hit in a wide arc.  This allows you to damage everything around (ensuring you get experience) and deal heavy damage while you're at it.

This game needs a lock-on ability ala Zelda that doesn't require holding a button down all the time.  It's not such a big deal for my RAcaseal but mobile enemies are a pain on my HUnewearl.

1. Music – The music is very nice, at times ambient at times discourse it really sinks in, there are times where they remixed PSU music in and I didn’t like that, I don’t want to be sold PSU, don’t even want to be reminded of it.

2. Graphics – Visual presentation is like Tales of Symphonia 2, where it’s passable for what it is. But definitely not bad, Sega did superbly with this game graphically.

3. Offline Content – All there, I’m not sure if I’ve explored everything actually but there is about 80 hours of offline play as there are three different stories.

4. Online Content- Again it’s all there, this is the best console online experience I’ve had well actually handheld experience, I’m putting this up against even PSN. Maybe because my standards were so low from all the years of Friend Codes suck. The game is meant for Online, without friend codes you can still play in free matches with up to 4 others. You can check off the areas you’re willing to go to and difficulty and the game will find others in queue with identical prerequisites and it doesn’t take very long… for me anyway.

5. Online Content With Friends – This is where the game shines, the chatting works great if you are keen on the idea of drawing emotes with words attached. You don’t have to draw them all the time, I’ve had a few people steal my emotes V_V. Anyway the game allows you to add other players without inserting Friend codes on the fly (just 2 clicks). After that the game pings you when players get online while you’re doing runs. So if you’re just doing free runs cause no one was online the game lets you know they are on and their connections status (lobby, waiting for party, doing run). In the end the online is great. You can trade items and all that good stuff and keep in mind this is a DS game.

6. Game Play – It’s PSO if you don’t know what that is… I can’t describe it and keep this short so I’ll just say picture Diablo 2 minus the devil and the totally gothic climate. The game has around 80 hours of game play in it minus the tower which is a time black hole (it sucked the sink in it).

1.  The music is forgettable.

2.  The graphics are nice.  It's too bad they couldn't be bothered to give you more character customization options.  Painting the models and letting the player pick the color scheme would have been excellent.

3.  I hope there are 80 hours in this.  My RAcaseal is at the first neutronian furnace and at 6:24.  I feel like the story is almost over.

4/5.  The online is mediocre.  There's no option for campaign co-op so you can't playthrough the story with another person.  It has the same problem as AC:FA in that you need to unlock stuff to play it with others but then it's kind of like "Why bother?"

There's plenty of teleportation when playing with others too.  Every so often my friend will be randomly attacking on the other side of the map and hitting enemies right next to me.  I know swords have long range but they're not that long.

Honestly, the best online multiplayer experience on the DS is still probably Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles:  Echoes in Time.

6.  I'll take that a step further.  It's Diablo 2 without the epic feel.  In Diablo 2, you mow down THOUSANDS of monsters with ease.  Enemies charge at you and blow them away.  In Phantasy Star Zero, you run at enemies, poke them, and run away.  It's an okay aRPG, but Diablo 2 it is not.

WoW I'll add you in sec, the music for me is great they are all from pso but remixed.

You dont have to unlock anything when playing with a friend.

Yea lack of customization is a pain.

Its 80 hours if your gunning for quest completion.

SPOILER%%%%%%%%%%%%

After you beat the final boss that isn't the end.

We should play some time I'm building a hunewerl, in the tower so can't check her level... lost track of what floor I 'm on.

Start a brand new character.  Have your friend do the same.  You have access to no quests and only the first three areas.  You can play and beat all three without unlocking more.

Compare that to Echoes In Time where you can start a brand new game, invite a couple friends to your world, and play through the entire story together.

Hmm, are you talking about over ad-hoc?

On the WFC you don't have to unlock anything when with a friend.

You do however have unlock stuff for free play mode.

WoW do you want to play now?
