Forums - Sales - Gran Turismo 5, the first 20 million selling GT... maybe.

Your points suck, two people already went through that with you. But fine some never really learn until they are beating hardcore.

- Well your whole theory is based on comparing a hand held to a console wtf, and two products that launched at two VERY different prices.

- You don't take into account PS3 price former current and future and its affect on sales.

- You don't get that FF13 and GT5 might light a fire under PS3 sales ass.

- Nor Sony or MS are in a rush to get the next gen started, MS have stated they believe this will be a longer gen then previous. While Sony is hell bent on the whole 10 year life cycle, and that is very profit based mentality not just empty words.

- you look at everything in a negative, maybe pull your head out of your ass for a few minutes and smell what the PS3 is cooking.

- Maybe just maybe you opinion is worthless and just wrong, maybe just the opposite will happen. Maybe.

Maybe you got your opinion across, you wont convince anyone so why bother.

Yeah I know, I'm being generous to the PS3 when I compare it to the PSP, it'll probably do much worse than the PSP, the PSP has the advantage of more hardware iterations and stronger Japanese sales and its sales trned and weekly sales have been much better than the PS3's.

Yeah actually I did, and the fact is, MS is going to be the one setting the tone in price cuts going forward, so price won't help the PS3's sales much, as they stand to lose a lot of money by price cutting so they'll be hesitant to do so, in addition it won't put PS3 sales on a trend line ahead of the PSP, as we've seen even now, the PS3 sales lag the PSP both in weekly and overall.

No FF13 won't its split in the west and in Japan its going to be frontloaded, look at other FF games, they have one week spikes.

GT5 will sell a little better, but its not likely to reach 10 million, its on a smaller base than the earlier GT's and no PS3 game has even gotten close to 10 million, so GT5 is unlikey to get to 10 million.

It doesn't matter what they said, before 2012, they'll be planning to launch, because before then, sales will be in decline, and Price cuts will basically be exhausted, as by 2011-2012, one or both of the top of the line 360 and PS3 systems will be around $150, not to mention, both motion controllers NATAL and Sony Wand will not meet with much success this gen, so both will be trying to launch them with their next gen consoles to cut into the Wii's base.

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

- Don't confuse ignorance for generosity.

- LOL yahh they wont help casue you say so, opinion as fact hilarious given how foollish your predictions are.  PS3 is at $300 at its lowest, cant you see that its still really high for many people.  You dont know how much money they might lose if any at all so stfu about it.  There is a simple math equation that says if they can or cant cut, you dont know it so dont pretand to know it.

- FF13 will be a huge hardware mover, we all know that.  Can it be for PS3 what FF7 was for PS we will know soon enough.

- Most on here agree on +10million for GT5, no game has gotten there cause guess what GT5 will be the one to get there

- They want profits, they wont rush to cut prices as long as sales are ok.  Theya both driven by $$$ and both will want to milk as much as possible from this gen.  Its quite simple, you just complicate everythign for your self with all your bs.

2010 $150 arcade, $200 elite $250 super 360..... PS3 $250/300/350
2011 $150 elite, $200 super 360...........................PS3 $200/250/300
2012 $100 Elite, $150 super 360............................PS3 $150/200/300

360 has a good 3 years of price cuts before it hits $99.99 and a potential succesor is released.

I'm not, the PSP is just a better seller than the PS3, so it is being generous when comparing the two, as the charts clearly show.

Actually they themselves have been saying they are losing money on PS3, but hope to start making money next year at the current price point, so a price cut would put them right back in the red, and they have been losing money just check their financial reports.

FF13 won't be a huge hardware mover, it'll move some in Japan, but not in the West as its split with the 360, and in Japan Famitsu and MC are saying less than 2 million, lifetime, so not anywhere near like what FF7 or FFX did.

No, GT5 won't reach 10 million, even MW2 on the PS3 won't get to 10 million on PS3, so GT5 just isn't likely

They want profits, but profits require sales, and profit margins, price cutting and declining sales won't net you profits.

No three years of price cuts isnt there, As we've seen MS will probably cut Arcade to $99 and Elite to at least $249 soon after the Holidays, you've seen the specials they've done in recent weeks, these are signs that more price cuts are coming, then later next year they'll probably cut the elite again down to $199 and also release NATAL.

Their next gen will partially be decided by the success of the Wand and NATAL, mediocre sales or a failure will lead to earlier 720 and PS4 launches

lol at your wii prediciton, you think it'll beat ps2 be the end of 2010, ok so lets be generous to the wii and say it'll be on 65 million by the end of this year. so to beat ps2 it has to sell 85 million next year! HAHAH and you think his prediction isnt possible.

Not a chance.

Goog good

now many anwsers like that but no content backing it.

1.  I don't have to explain anything to you, it's blatantly obvious you will not listen to others views without trolling/flaming them for being different to your own.

2.  Enough people in here have said pretty much what I think anyway.

3.  If you didn't want answers like mine then perhaps you should have stipulated it in your OP.

4.  I'm a "racing fan" so on behalf of all the people you rudely excluded within the first 2 paragaraphs of your OP, how about you stfu.

i would like to believe that GT could pull something like that... but it wont... it will sell a little more than 12m... in the PS3 user-base by end of 2012 60+m discussion i am with carl and zorro on this one... it is a very bad case scenario if PS3 dont sell at least 10m per year... i dont see it happening... PS3 will have more than 30m for its 3rd anniversary of being on the market WW and it has overcome all the controversy of the initial price point that almost kill it... so from now on it only seems that the PS3 future is more bright than before...

Proudest Platinums - BF: Bad Company, Killzone 2 , Battlefield 3 and GTA4

Well you take into account that GT5p and even GT4 still sell copies?

Someone said here "20M/26.5M its 75% attach rate, so no way" well its not like its gonna sell 20M in one day, today!.

Anyway I don't care how much it will sell over 10M 'cause even with 10-12M its still huge sales
