^ it will never reach 8m

How hard would it be to reach 5mil on PS3 and 3mil on 360? I really don't see it :/

5 Million on the PS3 is possible.  But 3 Million on the 360 is really up in the air.  Since its all going to be based on international sales to make up those 360 sales.  And even then, many people will still probably want to buy the PS3 version, since they've already announced it will have additional content the 360 version won't.  (The 360 version is essentially the game with content missing).

And while we're at it, it seems some people forget that FFXIII is only being released on the 360 outside of Japan.

Where ? I thought that the PS3 version is being cutted down to be equal with X360 release ?

If this is true, its something I didn't hear.  But it would make sense.

Shortly after announcing the 360 version however, they detailed how the 360 version would have differences than the PS3 version (though not specifying what differences).  Pointing to possible graphical deterioration or even some alternate content between the games due to the different amount of memory on the 360 disk.  They also threw out the possibility that the PS3 version might feature some extras that the 360 version may not like dual audio (Japanese and English voices) as well as additional content that won't fit on the 360 disk.

But I guess all of this could have changed by now.  The game has been stalled so long and was still in development for well over a year and a half since the E3 announcement it would be on the 360.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

i think it will be the seconds best selling FF game.

No way. I'm thinking 5 million combined.

People, don't underestimate the power of hyping and marketing. This game is going to have one of the biggest marketing for this gen. I can argue that it's pretty probable to see this game with GTA4/Halo 3/FF VII/WSR levels of marketing.

1)Microsoft is there! Sure they would advertise a lot of the game to make people think FF13=X360.
2)S-E marketing machine. If they really want it to be what they want be they know what they have to do when how to do.
3)Word of mouth acts like viral marketing. Fanbase could be shrinking over years, but still big enough to fans tell to convince their FPS friends to try it.

Yes this game will be marketed to the heavens

S-E has proven that by having a FF13 board in the BIGGESt advertising space in LA last E3

I doubt they would be allowed to do that unless they had an exclusive advertising deal like they did with MW2.

My guess: it'll outsell FFXII, but not FFX. It's not going to attract many new fans to the series: the 360 fanbase is too Westernized (though it will certainly retain its portion of the fanbase that jumped ship from Sony) and the PS3 fanbase remains too insular.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

It has the potential to do it, i mean, Square Enix developed it for 5 years, they're gonna do a massive marketing campaign because of that. Microsoft will do it also just to prove a point , and Sony, of course they'll do it to keep the majority of FF fans on the PS brand...

Now, the thing that keeps me from believing it is that FFXIII will come out in the HD consoles, and the two of them are now in the western era (specially FPS), the 360 was built from the ground to be a shooter console (even the controller is built that way), and the PS3 is doing everything to get a piece of that cake (remember E3 2008? while Microsoft gave some time to JRPGs and Wii features like avatars, Sony promoted shooters and action games), the games that sell better on both consoles are western ones or western-oriented ones (GTAIV, CoD4, MW2, Gears, Gears 2, Halo 3, ODST, Assasin's Creed, Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance, Killzone, Uncharted, Fable, Fallout, Oblivion, etc.)... Still, this is Final Fantasy the JRPG Western champion (besides Pokemon, of course), if there's one JRPG that can break the West-dominated market, it's this one...

Really doubt it, think 8 million is more realistic.

i think being multiplat will harm the game's sales
