Forums - Gaming - Which game sequels didn't fulfill your expectations this gen...

I know that its a much discussed topic but with all the sequels coming out left right and center, I am hoping we can discuss which ones did not meet the expactations that the first game set.

Lets keep it to this gen if possible...

Below are mine.

FEAR 2 - Nothing wrong with it as its a good game, it just wasn't as good as FEAR 1. Infact I had a better time playing FEAR expansion packs than FEAR 2. Too much health, too easy, gun play was changed and made worse. I want the real FEAR 2...come on Monolith, you can do it.

Resident Evil 5 - I've never seen a sequel which takes everything that its predecessor did great and throws it away for the sake of of coop.

Coondemned 2 - Wasn't scary at all. The best survival horror game this gen became a decent action game.

Resident Evil 5 and Uncharted 2(mainly because it was so hyped by this site.

i think uncharted 2's hype is justifiable, the single player is probably the best 10 hours of gaming i played all year.

i only played little of MW2 single player but i am disappointed so far, hopefully the game will get better, online multiplayer is great fun though

Wii/Mario Kart Wii Code:2793-0686-5434

- Gears of War 2.
- Prince of Persia.
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
- Pretty much every PES game this gen.

Resistance 2 - It was still a good game, but the much touted boss battles were a letdown, and the gunplay felt downgraded to a more generic level compared to R:FoM (mostly because the weapon wheel was removed in favor of that only-2-weapons-at-a-time system).

All other sequels I have played this generation have either been better, or I haven't played any of the previous games.

You know what my pick is lol but I will also throw in Ultimate Alliance 2, they removed one of the best things about superhero games...costumes, only two per character.

Agreed on Condemned 2.

Mercenaries 2 was okay but didn't live up to the ridiculous fun of the original, which was one of my favorite games of the last gen.

I have to agree with you on F.E.A.R. 2, the first was such a great game and had a much better feel and atmosphere.

GTA IV, This is kinda obvious I think, just didnt have the amout of things to do like GTA:SA had

Those are the only 2 I could come up with

-Just recently got Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 so that'll probably disappoint
-Planning on grabbing Condemned 2 which'll probably disappoint as well
-Grand Theft Auto IV

If you are ok with trading errie atmosphere, good story and intense character gameplay for better control mechanics and visuals, more action and some gross out moments, you will be happy with condemned 2.

I wouldn't really consider that a sequel, as it has nothing to do with the previous games.
