Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto drops 'Wii Music Plus' hints

It may have failed to live up to expectations both critically and commercially, but that hasn't stopped Shigeru Miyamoto from insisting his Wii Music still has a future, and even hinting there may be a 'Wii Music Plus' on the cards.

Speaking to Official Nintendo Magazine (full interview to be published in issue 50), Miyamoto said: "[Wii Music] was a really unique game, and even today, we are receiving several different offers from people in the field of music education... I think it still has great potential."

But more likely to perk the ears of creative Wii musician types, he went onto reveal the game could receive some "developments" for the "future"...

"Unfortunately, we don't have any news we can talk about at the moment," he said, coyly. "But like Wii Fit Plus, it's not really a sequel to the original Wii Fit - but we have added some features to improve the overall experience. It's a kind of an enhanced version."

So a vastly improved Wii Music not too far in the distance? It'd be a bit like Hear'Say reforming and being really, really good. (Without sounding too harsh).

LOL, check the Wii Music gamepage.

I beat ya to it!.......Sort of.

As long as they don't try to pin an entire Holiday season on the game it'll be ok

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Wii Music would be better if they added an actual instrument to the game. I recommend a keyboard. Make it so the game actually teaches you music.

I think they just want another shot at marketing it.

Though really, i think all the game needed would have been 1: more freedom to create, in the form of a Free Composition mode and 2: a larger and broader base of music to work with.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

ive been playing wii music as of late.

i second mr kahns motion.

This is surprising but they had said there were a number of things they would have liked to have done differently the first time around. So maybe it's not that unheard of.

Yep... many more songs would be needed for it to work at all. And more things you can do with the stage setting, or simply more stage options.

It would be interesting to see how they'd manage the public reaction this time.

For the love of Nintendo, No. Come on another WiiMusic , where is my Donkey Kong, Kirby, Pikmin or StarFox?

Am I alone in saying screw the Wii series and give me some franchise based games? If Miyamoto is really wasting his time on another WiiMusic when he could be giving us another one of his great games, then I am sadly dissapointed.

I mean seriously, WiiSportsResort, WiiFitPlus, WiiMusicPlus where are the good old games Nintendo used to give us. Sure some people will bring up numbers saying Nintendo is publishing more games for Wii then prior platforms but seriously they seem so focused on the casual/non-gamer and not nearly focused enough on Nintendo's loyal fanbase!
