The goal posts have moved from that argument long ago. Now it's "third party games that interest me don't sell on the Wii". You can substitute my very polite wording to mean "hardcore games", "good games", "games that aren't shovelware", "games that aren't minigame collections", "games that aren't for children or senior citizens", or many other ways of smugly portraying how I originally worded it.
Can you email the graph to the developers? A lot of them still not believing the power of the Wii, the 2nd best third party seller this Generation.

Interesting information. Didn't those 21 Nintendo games sell far more copies than those 43 3rd party games?
That might have some relevance to why 3rd party developers ignore the Wii when it comes to quality games.

You're right. Non-AAA games don't need to sell a million.
The Wii motto must be, "This could bomb, lets keep the budget small."

According to this chart (Soriku's math)
1 million seller = 1 million seller
Mario kart = We Ski
18 million = 1.24 million
oh wait... I doubt developers will MERELY look at number of "million sellers" instead of looking at how many MILLIONS there are actually there

Or third party developers not making many quality games might be the reason why the Nintendo games sell so much more compared to the third party million sellers. The chicken and the egg. |
They need titles as good as Wiiplay, but EA is the closest to getting there. EA active is a perfect game for the Wii.

Yeah 'cause those are the only games that deserve to sell
"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."
"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."
Yea, imagine if third parties put their main games on the Wii. It would be massive.
But why not spread development over 2 consoles, with much higher development costs, I say. It's all about being able to say you got the biggest cock, screw doing good business.

And I thought third party games don't sell on the Wii? |
Pardon me for singling this out, but lines like those annoy me a lot. I'm not against their message at all, but it's just about the most freakin' smarmy thing I hear people say on this site (when said like that).
Congratulations to the third parties on the Wii who find success, they're the smart ones. Hopefully the rest can catch up.
