i look at the speed of most of you and i wonder why you guys experience lag o_O. i never lagged in games unless i was downloading something on my PC or someone else using it.

Download and upload speed is not important unless your machine is acting as the server for the games.

What if Iwant to play L4D2 on PC with my friends.

Well I dunno, with PC gaming there are a lot of variables.... does L4D have dedicated servers? if so then you are probabaly ok.

I think mine is pretty good

Posting at college doesn't count, unless that's where you game ofc :D

Today mine is going pretty slowly, usually it's 8.5Mb/s But my ping is still grand.

This is with wireless by the way, so "TAKE THAT!" to those that think wireless isn't good enough for online gaming.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Mostly going to depend on the game and servers your connecting to.

With the DSL at my old apartment, it was a poor experience with playing games via PSN as well as some PC games. When it came to Valve games like Counter-Strike or Team Fortress 2 however, I had a better connection to some servers with a lower speed DSL versus the 7mb cable we eventually started getting later on.

Your connection should be more than fast enough to play online. Playing games online doesn't take a ton of bandwidth as people are lead to believe.

It does, but the matchmaking doesn't seem to place you in good ones (don't remember if they removed the workaround to use a server browser or not). For me, it's felt more like a rarity that I'd be placed into a game where my ping was a normal ~50ms. In the number of times I've run through the Left4Dead 2 demo, I've only had one or two have a ping around 50 while the rest are sometimes 100+ and usually 200-300+.

In line with my post above, I think I even had better pings when I played the first Left4Dead on the DSL :P

It will be perfectly fine for you. I played on 256kb down for about 6 years and never had a problem.
