Actually xxain that depends on what you mean by tradition

Tradition post FF7 or before it first of all

the phrase "tradition" & FF don't go together, if they do we need to decide what we mean by the FF tradition as many of them are so different from eachother

& I think I listed those "staples".....they are all present in FF13

what other staples are there? Theme park (check)

If people think tradition = these staples

then which ones are missing?

& don't say uematsu music, thats been gone for 8 years, get over it people

ur still alittle off...FF STAPLES/TRADITIONS have carried over FF7 and on also...if any FF truly broke tradition it was FFXll. dont get me wrong SE is expanding the FF series and if they want HALO/GT5/MARIO sales there gonna have to + im a fan of change especially in series thats been alive for so long with very little change, BUT as a loong time FF fan I can understand some dissapointment..hell im bumed IFIRIT didnt make it for some reason and hes a OG summon.

Ifrit can still be in the game, you never know, lets hope he is. I hope each character gets 2 summons in the end (probably aint happening)

Guys, honest truth is, this is such a big game, and we all care about it so much, we take every little piece of insignificant news and beat it until it's a dead horse. Right now, we're obsessing about the latest tidbit of news, and of course, criticizing it, because it's the only thing we're good at. We don't know if the game is great, or shitty until it's released, and trust me the opening song will have NOTHING to do with the end result or overall quality of the game, so talk about it if you're bored, but obsessing over every little detail is unhealthy, no matter how important that detail might seem.

It seems that many of you are less upset about the song selection, and more upset because this is seen as a move to adapt the game to a western audience.

I understand this, but remember, this is not indicative of the development process of the game, and the game is being released so soon in the west after it's Japanese release(a great thing no one seemed to care about) that they won't have time to westernize much else about the game. As I've said, this is 2 minutes of a 50 hour game, and it's equivalent to hating Vesperia because you didn't like the optional opening FMV.

Music is important to games, as is sound, but any one track in a 50 hour game can absolutely suck and it isn't THAT important. Especially considering this track isn't going to be played reoccurringly like say, a battle theme.

I didn't like the ending theme for season 2 of Bleach, but I still love the arc, and an ending theme in an anime is far more important than the song that plays over the credits of a 50 hour videogame. YOU ARE OBSESSING.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

1. It's NOT 100 hours, it's only 50 hours!
2. Leona Lewis' music is not memorable. It's generic, forgettable r&b/pop garbage.

You don't know what the hell you're talking about.

The games play time, like every other game ever, will vary, and most FF games have an end game that will go on far after the main campaign is over. I was making an off the cuff generalization without thinking based on previous entries in the series, you're trying to imply that you know the actual length of the game.

Also, your opinion is not a fact, and while you purposefully tried to make it insulting to my tastes in music, I actually think that you insulted yourself unintentionally.

While you might group music into genres you consider "hip" I group music only into two categories. Good and bad. You should look into broadening your horizions, it's much more constructive than criticizing other people's opinions.

There is plenty of good music throughout all genres of music, just as there are genres of gaming and movies. No "genre" is garbage, that is a vast and ignorant generalization, imho.

So again, complaining about a 2 minute song ruining a 50 hour game is just nitpicking, and saying the game is "ruined" is a completely generalization of a game all of you have never even played, and there is a reason none of you fans have a say in its development.

Fair enough. I don't wish to get into a flame war over the internet.

FFVII was supposed to be around 50 hours but I spent  a lot longer doing extra shit like breeding a gold chocobo and just wasting hours in the gold saucer. I took me ages to finally finish (mainly because my disks kept breaking).

I don't particularily hate the song, I just don't want it in the game.

Believe me this is not the only reason I dislike the game. It has many strikes against it already IMO. This is basically the final nail in the coffin or the straw that broke the camel's back.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the game and we'll agree to disagree.

Ok, that's wrong. Many staples of the FF series have changed over the years, and many have changed with every game. There really aren't any more  staples removed from this entry than there were from FFXII. People just complain about everything that changes about the series with every release, it's that simple. They love FF so much, that they dont' want it to change, but the fact is, the game changes vastly with EVERY release, and that is WHY they love it so much.

This isnt true and you only have play a few of the post FF7 games see this FF1-6 were very consistent..The Story, Setting, Characters, and some mechanics( free changing Job system or a typical character class system) of the game changes of changed but the generally Staples didnt...FF7 was the 1st big departure but it was still able the FF stablesl( it still had same magics, summons, weapons, enemis, chocobos, mogs, cid, ext from previous games) same with FF8 still a departure but same stables some mechanics changed like (summons being GF and GFsystem). basically FF has evolved while keeping the big stables in tact while adding new stuff....FF13 is still gonna be FF..minus fanfare and Ifirit( BTW ifirits the only deduction that bothers me).....but overall in regards to song everybodies overeacting

so who else is impressed by my japanese skillz

I'll agree to disagree with you. I don't want a game like a FF 1-12. I want a game like I've never played before. Maybe that's just the reason I like FF games. They change, while others don't....post VII at least. :P

...and yes, people are obsessing over the song, lol, it's good to know the series is still so popular at least.
