October was a huge month for PS3 owners, seeing the release of three exclusive titles, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2, and Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time. The trifecta of exclusives were all very well received and gaming communities around the web buzzed in ancticpation. Of the three, though, only Uncharted 2 made the top 10 best selling list in October, leaving some PS3 enthusiasts bewildered that neither Ratchet nor Demon's Souls charted.
Insomniac doesn't seem to be concerned with Ratchet's performance though. Speaking on NeoGAF, Insomniac Community Manager James Stevenson commented that Ratchet games are typically 'long burners' at retail.
"Relax. 5 days of sales," Stevenson said. "Ratchet games are long burners... not chart toppers. See Boom Blox and other family-friendly fare."
Sales data of the the first Future game does seem to corroborate Stevenson's claim. Tools of Destruction made it's debut in October 2007, selling about 76K in it's opening month. As of January 2009, the game had sold close to 500K in the
