Forums - Sales - FFCC: The Crystal Bearers sells 26,000 copies on day 1.

With a shipment of 75000 it' not to bad but for a FF game (even a spinoff) that's more or less a flop. Lets' see what a total week brings before calling it a real flop.

Game sales in Japan tend to plummet fast and hard. This game (probably) won't see 100k.

It's a shame but I really hope the western markets attack this game like piranhas.

@scottie: Well, even if it wasn't, I don't think SE will put another big game on the Wii before or after DQX comes out.

They'll lead up to DQX with something, probably a DQVII remake if past history is any indication.  I wouldn't doubt another DQ spinoff either, maybe a motion+ Swords sequel or a Monsters Battle Road conversion.

I think this may be it for FF on Wii though.  Maybe we'll see SaGa, Mana, Front Mission or some other 2nd/3rd tier series though.

'And Monster Hunter.  Wait, what?'.

MH3 did like 3K last week. Core gamers flocking to the Wii...

Just wait for Samurai Warriors 3!

Isn't that mostly true for big, hyped titles. It just has to sell 18k for three days to clear out. That's certainly possible.

It does look like a more western-orientated game. In the west, i could be better there.

Come on guys. how many times have we seen good quality third party wii games have horrible openings but over time eventually sell a decent amount and even turn out to be a success. I didn't think this would move hardware, Tales of Graces will probably do that though and New Super Mario Bros wii. But seriously we can't be so quick to call this game a bomb, yeah the game was not going to reach the sales status of FFXIII, but we've seen that wii games follow some weird sales patterns. Lets wait a while before we start saying doom.

Closer to 5k according to MediaCreate.  But it's moved almost a million units already, that's more than any hardcore HD game so far... if Wii can't sell hardcore games, what's that say for the HD twins? :P

No, this game isn't going to recover.  Too many problems inherent with it (10-12 hours long, not an RPG, marketed as a spinoff of a spinoff, launching too close to FFXIII, Kawazu's reputation).  I think it's bad enough that it may have Kawazu reconsidering any Wii projects and it probably signals the death knell for the Crystal Chronicles subseries (though EOT's decline didn't help there either).

Mario and (to a far lesser extent) Tales are the only hopes for pushing hardware this year.  Musou could go either way, though that series has been in sharp decline pre-Wii and this being the first installment on Wii (after what 7+ on the HD consoles already?) probably won't bode well.  Wii at least has some decent filler in it's pocket though (Pokepark, Taiko 2, Momotaru, etc) which is a nice change from the usual.

MAn, FFCC better have some great legs. Those are real disappointing numbers.

I'm gonna give a short impression of this game just based on the game play since I don't want to spoil the story aspect of it for those who want to purchase the game after christmas.

first thing is first, the camera control is ass just like most Wii games but mostly due to the part of the fact that most 3rd party devs can't get the camera right on a game without a right analog stick since that's been their base design for so long.

second, outside of that camera problem, the other aspects are actually not too bad once you get used to it, though so far it feels a little limiting on what you can do with your powers since this is aimed to be a family game.

graphics and music are quiet nice though, it's amazing how the right art style would look, and I do like the music a lot.

Not sure why people are acting so surprised though? TheSource warned us in his preview:

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is not in the top twenty but even the GC version did 187,000 week one so you have to figure the Wii version is reserved at a decent clip somewhere, even though it clearly isn’t at this store.

It looks like the game wasn't being reserved much at any store.
