Forums - Sales - FFCC: The Crystal Bearers sells 26,000 copies on day 1.

Wow, a true bomb. No matter how you try to spin it, this has bombed, period.

But I think SE deserved it for putting out so much crap on the Wii and keep on giving it spin-offs or games no one cared about. Even if this game is good, I'm glad it didn't perform well, now SE will probably make no more games for the Wii, but that's what they always wanted anyways, an excuse to stop developing on the Wii. That's why they have publicly stated that the Wii was a toy and that Nintendo needed an HD machine very soon.

This reinforces the thoughts that DQX will be the only big game Wii gets from SE, and that getting it probably had something to do with a monetary arrangement between Nintendo and SE.

Woah, bomba! Kawazau probably should've made another ARPG instead.

Oh geez I was expecting about 50k-75k first week. Obviously not even close. Guess the Japanese were not looking forward to this FF spinoff... even though they buy every one of them on DS haha.

Based on the sell through percentage, 34%, it looks like Square Enix was expecting about the same. It appears they shipped about 75k for the first week.

@Darc: That's what retailers expected, not what the publisher did.

I can't wait to hear from the first Wii fanboy that admits bombs like this exist because the Wii user base consists primarily of people that want to play Wii Fit and Wii Sports.

And Monster Hunter.  Wait, what?

Man, this is a mega flop and sad to me since I enjoy very much the Crystal Chronicles series. It should do less than 50k first week, terrible for a FF game and bad overall for Wii 3rd party sofware =/

tres, we have covered this before. If Nintendo moneyhatted DQX, it would be the first time in the company's hundreds of years that it paid for a dev to put a game on their console

@scottie: Well, even if it wasn't, I don't think SE will put another big game on the Wii before or after DQX comes out.
