EDIT: Anyone know the first shipment?

?????26000?34%

So 26 thousand out of 76.5 thousand. Not terrible for one day.

No, it's not terrible.  But it certainly isn't stellar either.  This is the sort of game that will be more of an "inbetweener" than a mainstream title--not a failure, but not a blockbuster either, just kinda like what I'd expect.

It really could have been a whole lot worse.  It's at least not as abysmal as the first day sales of Mario & Sonic at Olympic Games.  Maybe good word-of-mouth will help carry this game a bit more.  If not, there's always the overseas sales.

Mario and Sonic at Winter games bombed??

You didn't know?  Its first day sales were only about 7.8K, and its first week ended up being at about 26K.

Crystal Bearers' first day numbers could be better, yes, and it certainly doesn't compare to the original CC opening date, but under the circumstances, it'll at least have a considerably better opening number than the previous Wii title.  So it's an "inbetween" game at best.  Not a failure, but not a super-huge hit either.  Kinda mediocre.  Overseas, though, it'll do MUCH better.

Either way, I do see this game headed for cult status.

34% first day ... I guess first week sales will be atleast 70% of the first shipment, then, probably? Not so bad, maybe it'll have legs ... But probably not.

wait wait wait... Mario and Sonic at Winter games the sequel to a 10mill seller bombed? has it been released WW yet?

If it debuts like that on its opening week, that'll translate to 56K.  Not anything outstanding, but not horrible either.  Heck, I'd argue that the average third-party game in Japan would be lucky enough to break 50K in its opening week (Monster Hunter 3 excepted of course, not to mention ToS2, DQS, Taiko).

As for whether it'll have legs, well, that ultimately will depend on how the gamers respond to it.  It IS possible for games to start out with somewhat meh numbers but then go onto be long-term sellers.  If the game gets enough favorable word-of-mouth, it may be lucky to do that.

No, it hasn't bombed. However, the game did worse in Japan than the previous one did.

... It may be counted as a bomb in Japan, though I personally think it's too early to tell. But it's not a bomb in US or Others, I wouldn't say.

That's what I meant to say:  Mario & Sonic had an even worse opening week in Japan last week (even though the game in question has done fine elsewhere), clearing only 7800 out of a 75000 shipment, which is quite bad.

At least Crystal Bearers didn't sell THAT much on its opening day, although it remains to be seen whether this game will crack 100K (something tells me that it will, although it will be lucky to reach 200K).

No matter how you slice it, this game bombed. Worse its a Final Fantasy game, emphasis on single player on the largest userbase. Come on guys call a Spade a spade and a circle a circle

Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Well I will say that it could have been far worse. It'll only be a bomb if it doesn't sell more than its opening day numbers; while the number is low in question, it could've been much worse. I call it a "meh" opening. Not great but not terrible either.

hmm.. this obviously isn't a game Japan waited for so I don't expect a notable wii hw bump

wat is goin on in Japan?
