Forums - Gaming - China Sales to come

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=30007

In the above report I take it as read that the Wii launch in China has been delayed, I also know that a Vii has been released there as a copy console cash in. However When the Wii is relased will this reflect in the Other sales. I imagine Chna will need its own grouping I suppect the Wii will be massive there even if it is Japanese.

Also am I right in thinking that the other Consoles are not for sale there, this could be massive if Nintendo could make enough Wii's, can you imagine the software sales on the back of this.

So Will China be the new battle ground and will this just push the Wii into orbit and can vgchartz record it?

Yes. China has 1.2 billion people and half (right?) are elderly. Even if only 1 out of every ten people want it that is still a crap load of people.

And I'm not even counting kids.

Kimi wa ne tashika ni ano toki watashi no soba ni ita

Itsudatte itsudatte itsudatte

Sugu yoko de waratteita

Nakushitemo torimodosu kimi wo

I will never leave you

Yeah well I understand that not everyone can afford or use a console system over there but the citys in China are now just massive which a massive market of young people with some time on there hands and a bit of dosh

Psp is selling like crazy in china, 1380yuan, around 180$, report says it sold around 2-3 milions units there (conservative, some estimate sale around 5 milions) without any software. Wii is priced at 1980yuan, 260$. Most of them came from Japan, HK and US. Vii is not commercialized yet, or it may not exist at all.

Wow where did you get that info from, I guess there are PS2 out there too So is the PSP kicking the DS out there?

I think that Nintendo dares going to China because they make profit on hardware... If they didn't, they'd probably just lose money (piracy of Wii games will be rampant there).

My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957

There will likely be huge sales of hardware but with piracy out of control in China it's doubtful software will sell there. Of course they could lower the price of software there to $5 or $10 US but by the time Nintendo gets it's cut, the retailers get theirs, packaging, shipping, distributers, advertising, localization, etc, how much would be left over for the actual game publisher and developer?

The wii is the only system in china(soon)? If it is, huge advantage for nintendo.

 2008 end of year predictions:

PS3: 22M

360: 25M

wii: 40M

I'm surprised they're shipping to China at all.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
