| Sullla said: I remember those days very well indeed. What's amusing is how a lot of the younger folks seem to think that just because there was no Internet in the early 1990s, the console arguments were somehow less fierce. |
There were many arguments on the BBS's. Even some heated exchanges.
Man those were the days. I remember actually getting into a actual fist fight with some genesis fanboy. Yea I was Super Nintendo kid (though I really enjoyed playing sonic).
If your intrested in sega's history, you guys to check out this site.

I want part 2 dammit! This left me thirsty for more!

Very interesting stuff. Post part 2 later? I'm surprised at the viciousness of the two companies. Makes PS3-Wii-360 look like a minor battle eh?

I showed up way late to gaming. I purchased my first system (Game Boy Advance) in Fall 2002 and got Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past/Four Swords.
I did however play Pokemon Gold extensively before that time on my GBC (over 200 hours logged and I still didn't catch em all) and played Ocarina of Time on N64 in summer of 2001.
The SNES vs. Genesis probably was the best generation considering all of the great SNES games I have played on the VC (as well as Genesis, Gunstar Heroes FTW!!!!)
On interesting point is that Katz helped Atari make money after the crash. Well Atari couldn't have made the Lynx and Jaguar otherwise, even if those did lose them that money.
Also, the Street Fighter II story is a bit off. According to Capcom's page of million sellers (http://ir.capcom.co.jp/english/data/million.html), the SNES Street Fighter II games outsold the Genesis games, but still having the games on the Genesis was a major help to Sega.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs
Wow, I don't remember any fights with any of the "other" kids. I still enjoyed going to my friends house to play their sega's even though I didn't "get" it. I guess the feeling I got going from my atari (shooting asteroids) to my grandpa's nintendo (shooting fire and breaking bricks with my head) for the first time made me a fan ^^
Great read. It doesn't seem that long ago that I was playing the SNES/Genesis. Even though the war was going on I never really got into any arguments, etc about it. Me and my bro. got the SNES first when it was released(not counting Atari/NES/GB, or course), but we got a Genesis the next year, too, hehe :) Best of both worlds.
I never knew there was so much of a rush over SMB3 (I never actually owned it) I did really like "The Wizard" at the time though, haha ;p
I'm looking forward to pt.2!
