Forums - Nintendo - Resident Evil 5 on Wii “possible”

I do not think that resident evil 5 in it's current incarnation will run on the wii; but if they say build it from scratch with the "older" resident evil 4 engine; they could possibly get it to run (minus co-op). That game is not a graphical powerhouse, but it does have a lot of physics interaction which if I am not mistaken is something the wii has a hard time replicating. Otherwise I see this as another attempt by Reggie trying to get the bigger multiplatform games on the the wii (remember he also cried about street fighter 4 not being on the wii also).

Avarice: I totally forgot co-up was invented this gen and wasn't possible before the release of the xbox360!

Too bad Capcom chose to go multi-platform and co-op, completely destroying a game that had taken a major turn-over in a positive way with Resident Evil 4. Showelware games like gow and gta even stole the idea of over head view.

Local co-op is probably out (though MH3 somehow managed it) but online would be no problem.  The physics in RE5 aren't complex at all though, the game just uses basic Havok for limited environmental damage and ragdolls, which is perfectly doable on Wii.  RE5's mostly scripted, just like RE4.... honestly, Dead Rising was more complex physics wise.

Again, the big barrier for RE5 was the lighting/shading.  They can't recreate that on Wii, but they might be able to fake it using cavia's techniques.
