This is the dumbest thread ever. I hope you fall in a pit of fire with your disjointed paragraph of fake hate.
It's one thing to dislike a game, its another to try and be part of a counter culture like a hipster. You are basing the multiplayer experience on three days? Nice.

I've played the multiplayer for over 10 hours. I think that's more than enough to have an opinion on it.

@ whoever asked about my complaints - There is too much crap on the screen it really takes away from the atmosphere of being engrossed by the game. 200 points! Revenge kill! Payback 50 point bonus! Painkiller! + an image of a pill. What are we retarded? We don't need this images on our screen while we're playing a game. A trailing red line behind grenades? Is that necessary? Thanks for reminding me that I'm playing a game. Might as well dress up everyone in red and blue space marine suits. Setting up unmanned turrets that can detect enemies? What is this science fiction? The kill streak rewards are way over the top. Oh you got an 11 kill streak? The other team must suck, well here let me just give your team an even bigger advantage and give you an airship that kills everyone. Oh 95% of the level is outside? Well too bad just keep dying. The point is to make the games competitive. Most games are massacres it seems whether I'm on the winning side or losing side. A lot of these things would work in maybe a clan match where both teams are competitive but I guess they forgot that most of the people that play this game just do their own thing and have no concept of team.

The hit detection is atrocious at best. I thought COD5 was bad, not nearly as bad as MW2. Even the killcam doesn't justify deaths like COD4 did when your shit was just lagging. All the games seem to be the same. They decided to implement 3rd person matches instead of allowing you to have a tactical 3 on 3 match. That makes no fucking sense. Give me gameplay options not pointless camera options. I don't want to play the same 12-18 person match every time. The switching between guns and picking up packages and everything is very sluggish. It takes 2 or 3 second to pick up a second primary gun and even then somehow they'll have swapped out your first primary gun instead of your secondary gun which you wont find out till your half way across the battle field and/or in action. In COD4 is takes a second triangle, box, triangle and bam you got your second primary gun you dont have to wait for sluggish animations to finish. I thought it was funny in COD4 that they let you shoot through glass like it wasn't there but it worked. Now they put the glass there that you have to break which is great for the development of the atmosphere but then they go and make the glass somehow stop the first few bullets as it's breaking. I'm fairly certain modern guns can shoot through standard glass and will lose little velocity let alone completely become incapable of inflicting damage. It's better than COD5 though where they had clear glass in some parts that you could see the enemies but if you shot through it the bullets just disappear.

I don't even want to get started on the stupid party invite system that is not only sluggish and has way too many steps but it doesn't even work. That can be fixed however, and hopefully soon. It also might just be a PS3 thing, but COD4 took two seconds to invite someone and didn't have 18 steps with sluggish loading screens.

The game is still fun but it is no longer head and shoulders the best game like COD4 was. I believe MW2 is a complete step back and it gives room for other developers to come along now and create the new top of the class FPS. That's what this thread was about. To see what other people thought had the potential to be the new top of the class FPS.

Looks to me like you just suck at playing online...

I find it highly entertaining and rewarding.

Should I buy into the hype and get it?

I never did think much of it or cared. But 7 million people seem to think otherwise?

Is this game way over rated like GTAIV was?

I don't hate MW2 or CoD 4, I just wish other games such as Uncharted 2 could get some sales loving.

So can I post here?

Well it certainly isn't the second coming of Jesus like everyone thought GTAIV was gonna be, but if you are a fan of FPS's with amazing (albiet a bit brief) cinematic and engaging campaigns, and perhaps even more importantly, if you are a big fan of competitive online play, then Modern Warfare 2 is definitely a must buy.  If neither of those really appeal to you, then maybe you should pass up on a purchase right away, but definitely give it a rental since you can pretty much finish the campaign if you are decent at FPS games in a weekend, if not sooner.

Lets see

Cons

1.Multiplayer has AWFUL map designs, your getting shot up down left right in the future and in the fucking past, awful.

2.So many lame guns, they took out all the cool guns and put a hole bunch of meh guns in,oh and the Scar and Famas are the ONLY two guns that are useful.

3.Campers are everywhere, in everycorner in every shadow behind you in front of you, unless you camp your not getting kills.

4.Still an Meh story, spoiler  i was chasing that asshole, i forgot/dont care what his name is and we found him like 5 feet from "his troops", the guy tackled him off the building, and all of a sudden his troops just gave up,oh and i suppose we got out on loch ness that were carried by big foot.

5.Hit detection is awful, i mean its worse than BF2. If you shoot me once, and i move behind a wall and you keep shooting in the direction where i was, i will die, it will show me sitting there counting pennys in my pocket, and WTF does the money do?

Pros

1-Mp is 100x better than CoD4.

2.Graphics are slightly improved.

The cons far out wieght the pros, but its a decent game.

I know I am not the only one. I fell in love with COD4 and played the shit out of it by myself and with many of my friends. I've been waiting 2 years for the next installment and now that it is here I am just annoyed by it. IW did away with their perfectionist midset that made COD4 and implemented the "let's just add a bunch of more crap" mindset. Anyways my question is this. What new FPS shooter series do you think can be the new love for us FPS fans that have fallen out of love with COD and are looking for something new? I have KZ2 and I really like it but it just doesn't feel quit right sometimes. I think KZ3 would have potential though. I played the demo of the first Bad Company and I liked it but it wasn't quit as polished as COD4. If BC2 has that polish then it could be it. But other than those two what other FPS games are out there that you feel could be the new king of the FPS?

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has a chance to become the preferred non-scfi modern shooter.  Not sure what will give on consoles though.  On consoles you stand to ask: what will be the second preferred FPS for console FPS fans?

I think if Sony markets MAG well, and when it released it is well polished with minimal to no issues, then it has a chance at becoming a top tier FPS. I mean, I love the concept behind it, look forward to it tremendously. Right now KZ2, and maybe BF:BC2 will hold off my FPS needs until MAG. Dunno if I will pick up MW2, but a lot of my friends have it, so I might end up buying just to play with them.. -_-

this is simply the most overrated game in history
its an ok war shooter
dont understand why people get so crazy for this one

If only people gave Bad Company a try and realize how much of a game changer destructible environment is.

Campers hiding behind corners and walls? Just fucking blow open a hole. Guys camping on top of roofs? Mortar their asses.

Coming soon: BLOW UP THE ENTIRE FUCKING BUILDING DOWN
