Uncharted 2 is too of a game linear to warrant a true purchase if the choice is between it and Modern Warfare 2. Modern Warfare has the multiplayer that will last years. Uncharted 2's multiplayer is good, but is going to play second fiddle to Modern Warfare online as that is currently the top shooter in sales and gameplay on the PS3.

What if you actually prefer SP to MP and prefer a superior script and voice acting?  Just curious?

This is actually a very good question which I would be more than happy to answer. I totally agree that some people prefer the single player experience to multiplayer; infact this is the very reason why I bought a PS3. I love the single player experience. I am stating that MW2 is a huge win for the PS3 in terms of what the exclusives seem to lack. As far as single player MW2 still plays more like a videogame with some movie elements. Uncharted is basically an action movie that allows you to feel portions of the excitement that exist within the world Drake lives in. Don't get me wrong, I loved both Uncharted games. My malfunction is I want the guy to get the most for his money and Uncharted 2 cannot compare to MW2 in longevity. I hope this makes some sense to you.

Actually, i you read the majority of reviews, or look to those like me who play SP way more than MP, you'll see Uncharted 2 SP wipes the floor with MW2 SP.  MW2 is a good fps with a terrible campaign that is short, unfocused and actually has few really wow moments.  Uncharted 2 on the other hand is much longer, focused and has he most 'wow' moments of any SP campaign I've played in years.

In other words, MW2 is all about the MP, hell, it's obvious plenty of MW2 purchasers aren't even going to bother with the SP (apart from maybe trying out the now infamous Airport level) whereas with Uncharted 2 the SP is what pushed the games, with the coop and MP as a nice bonus.

In terms of single player Uncharted 2 is the way to go. What I am worried about is whether the fellow is getting his moneys worth. The campaign in MW2 isn't terrible, it is just really short. You take the training and you go on the campaign get it over with and you're ready for multiplayer. It was a very good exprience for me. Now multiplayer has always been this games bread and  butter. Uncharted may bring him on a movie-like joyride for 10 hours, but after that you're just stuck with the normal gameplay mechanics in multiplayer. That will not last like MW2 does. If he wants Holy shit moments...multiplayer holy shit moments are made by the player. In Uncharted 2 its just as equal to watching a movie. You press the button, you survive, if you don't.....well you die and rehash the moment until you put in the command on time and watch the cinematic. As far as the OP is concerned that has nothing to do with the topic, he wants a great first or third person shooter that is worth his $60 that can can give him holy shit moments. On the PS3 no other game will give those moments in my opinion than MW2. Uncharted was great, but that game will come and pass because of the gameplay mechanics.

Name 1 other game that allows you to traverse environments in various levels via climbing, taking cover, and leaping over obstacles in multiplayer. Ready, set, go!

U2 is an amazing must play but I haven't touched it in a few weeks. Then again, my interest in MW2 is relatively low. Go with U2.

Well frankly it's too early to tell if uncharteds mp will have longlivity. ^

LOL....It's the PS3....just watch. I have a very good feeling about this from watching MGS4's results.

Killzone 2 is a better example. The reason MGO didn't quite last was because of the lengthy registration process, lack of trophies, awful survival lag, region restriction, and numerous glitches. The most solid community is SOCOM: Confrontation, believe it or not. We'll see if Uncharted 2 holds out well, because the demo was played like crazy.

As for the post before that, I agree that the PS3's strength lies more within SP games as opposed to the 360, which is more online centric (I also own both consoles). But hey, I do still enjoy MGO (while still active, it's starting to get really outdated though), SOCOM, and Uncharted 2. As for Resistance and Killzone, while they're good games, I just prefer Halo, L4D and COD.

Something tells me, though, that when MAG drops, that'll be the first huge shooter for the PS3 which could last for a long time, if Uncharted 2 fails to hold out against Modern Warfare 2.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

If your an online guy then get Modern Warfare 2 but if your looking for an awesome single player game then get Uncharted 2.

The single player in MW2 is pitiful.

Some seem to think that MP is all about the standard S&D TDM etc, and compare that to MW2. As far as im concerned, U2 strongest onlin MP feature is the Co-op. Its freaking awesome! Beyond that, you can't really compare TDM FPS vs TDM TPS. I mean, only Gears and SOCOM really does TPS well, and now Uncharted 2.

Well Uncharted is a mix of Tomb Raider, Pricce of Persia and Pitfall and killswitch so of course no game puts those things together. You wont survive for ever in multiplayer acting like a monkey. You have humans shooting you this time. It's finite compared to MW2. Thats all I am saying.

UNCHARTED 2

I would get Uncharted 2 if i were you, personally I think the multiplayer of U2 is better, it actually requires some skillz to kill somebody, and the singleplayer is very good...
