Forums - PC - PC gamer hatred of MW2 is laughably AWFUL!

I just need to quickly make a comment about all who are bitching about the headaches of PC gaming.
The excuses about virus', drivers and the like are ridiculous. Here is why I say so.
I will tackle drivers first.
How possibly hard can it be to go to a website and download and install a video game driver. In the console world it is not different then electing to update your firmware.
I have never once in all my years of gaming had an issue downloading and installing a driver that was not related to my ISP not providing Internet.

Now for the virus'.
What are you people doing to get these virus' that you always get. I have not had a single virus infection on my pc for over 8 years now. How is this possible you ask? Well I don't click on every single "Free Xbox360" or "cum see my webcam" add there is. I have this mystical thing called Anti-Virus software which is legally free on my computer. Anytime there has been a possible virus on my machine, the Anti-virus app took over and removed it before from the downloaded file before it infected my machine.

The only headache that I could possibly see in PC gaming is having to upgrade a PC once every 3-6 years to be able to play the newest games. But wait, you have to do the same for console games. But with console games you buy a new console instead.

Before anyone tries to say I am a PC fanboy, take a look at my owned games. I update it whenever I get new one.

As for piracy, I am guilty of it from time to time. But usually for FPS games to see if they are worth their salt. If I like it, I buy it. If I Don't it is removed from my PC in less than a day. It is a good way to demo a game, since you can't rent PC games, piracy works.

Now back on topic.
Scoring a game with a very low score and lot's of bad reviews everywhere along with petitions and pacts to boycott a game have worked in the past. At least to a degree. Developers do listen, but they generally only hear 1 out of every 5 words said.
This was evident recently with Bioshock, Spore, and even Star Craft II.
There was a huge uproar about DRM for Bioshock and Spore, well the dev's listened and loosened up the DRM. Newer hit games have continued to have looser DRM.
For Star Carft II, there was the huge outcry about no LAN. So the SCII team got together and started to work on a possible solution, like the online once before starting a LAN game to verify installed client. After that the client does not need to touch the internet. Granted they still fuxed up with the 1 game for the price of 3 shite.

Well it's a fair way of getting their point across. I get the feeling that Infinity Wards will at least have realised by now how pissed off the PC gaming community is. Whether they take any notice or not nobody knows.

Grant Collier wouldn't let this happen

IW has gone from a guy that was totally friendly to the community to dumbasses that say "modders and tuners" aren't the game "fans"

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

well, for me that score would be justified (if i was going to buy the pc version). the mp is crap and i'm not interested in the single player.

and when you look at user reviews, they aren't supposed to be subjective.

Lots of PC gamers are very arrogant. They like to think themselfes like ''Elite Gamers''. Console port is not good enough for them.
Sure, they torrent every COD game like hell, but that doesnt stop them from bitching how IW doesnt care about them

That's a very ignorant comment. It's not simply that a console port isn't good enough (many games on PC are direct ports of the console game), its that features have been removed that have been standard in PC games for many years. It would be like Bungie releasing a Halo game with only local multiplayer and no online, and not all PC gamers are pirates. Piracy on PC is a problem (more than on consoles sure) but that sort of sweeping generalisation is just plain false.

rating a game 1.4????? Seriously????? They are actually trying to tell people the game is worse than Big Rigs???? They are obviously just hating on IW. I understand they removed some features but rating a game 1.4???? 1.4 means almost un-playable

Console gamers are just as bad, if not worse.

Before launch that 6.1 user score for Gears 2 was closer to 1:

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/gearsofwar2?q=Gears%20of%20War%202

Resistance 2, 5.7, again same thing prior to launch, closer to 1:

With PC gamers this scoring of 1.4, whilst silly is all down to being frustrated and not having a suitable place to vent that anger. Can you say the same for the console fanboys? At least PC gamers have a good reason to be frustrated, standard features have been removed for no real reason other than to generate more revenue from DLC in the future.

PC user ratings and console user rating cant be compared. There are  lot of 360 and PS3 fanboys who just rate exclusive PS3 or 360 game low just so they can downgrade the user rating. There are no fanboys in PC gaming community though since they all play the same system.

Its funny im reading an argument on the ease of use of PCs relative to consoles as im trying to salvage a pair of HDDs using an Ubuntu Linux disc. Im currently halfway through trying to get back about 1000GB of data for games I don't even have install discs for anymore.

Tease.

Thank Christ no consoles have ever had hardware defects.

I had to save some files with the Ubuntu live CD a few weeks ago.

And that's why I have my own seperate computer from the rest of the family.

As for not having the install disks... Lets see you play Modern Warfare 2 on your 360 when you don't have the disk either. :P

Since this is your second point, I did make mention of issues that have been run into.  But answer me this:

What kind of gaming platform enables you to play a game, and every expansion for it, except the LAST expansion released, because of the DRM on it isn't compatible with your gaming rig?  That is what happened with me and Civ 4.  I can't run Beyond the Sword.  I am supposed to do what, update my BIOS to run one game?  Am I supposed to buy the software download version of the expansion to work with my laptop (I did this, and it still didn't work)?  What kind of gaming platform has this happen?  Can you answer that?

Please don't make light of this issue either.  A bunch of people are running into a headaches like this on all levels.  This is why Apple has run its Mac ads.  It is a problem with the PC platform.  Maybe the latest version of Windows addresses it.  But, it has been there.
