Now back on topic.
Scoring a game with a very low score and lot's of bad reviews everywhere along with petitions and pacts to boycott a game have worked in the past. At least to a degree. Developers do listen, but they generally only hear 1 out of every 5 words said.
This was evident recently with Bioshock, Spore, and even Star Craft II.
There was a huge uproar about DRM for Bioshock and Spore, well the dev's listened and loosened up the DRM. Newer hit games have continued to have looser DRM.
For Star Carft II, there was the huge outcry about no LAN. So the SCII team got together and started to work on a possible solution, like the online once before starting a LAN game to verify installed client. After that the client does not need to touch the internet. Granted they still fuxed up with the 1 game for the price of 3 shite.

Since this is your second point, I did make mention of issues that have been run into.  But answer me this:

What kind of gaming platform enables you to play a game, and every expansion for it, except the LAST expansion released, because of the DRM on it isn't compatible with your gaming rig?  That is what happened with me and Civ 4.  I can't run Beyond the Sword.  I am supposed to do what, update my BIOS to run one game?  Am I supposed to buy the software download version of the expansion to work with my laptop (I did this, and it still didn't work)?  What kind of gaming platform has this happen?  Can you answer that?

Please don't make light of this issue either.  A bunch of people are running into a headaches like this on all levels.  This is why Apple has run its Mac ads.  It is a problem with the PC platform.  Maybe the latest version of Windows addresses it.  But, it has been there.
