Forums - Gaming - What are some advantages on buying a console at the end of the war?

I see that there are few more people purchasing the PS2 and some are even buying Gamecubes according to ioi....So what are some? Don't the late adopters know that the console is no longer getting new games?

Its quite simple really...

It lasts longer

The best games are out for it

The games are cheaper

and most importantly...

The console is cheap.

 2008 end of year predictions:

PS3: 22M

360: 25M

wii: 40M

You don't have to go through "the war".

Well yeah there is some many games to choose from, but wouldn't that user still be backed up and late to go into the next gen.

Disadvantages: TOO...MANY...GAMES...TO...BUY!

one other disadvantage, some games are more expensive

other advantage stacks o' games at garage sales

I HAVE A DOUBLE DRAGON CAB IN MY KITCHEN!!!!!!

NOW A PUNISHER CAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know. Sure, tons of great games are out by that time, but most of them are a few years old by then and impossible to find on store shelves.

I am considering a PS2 myself, there are many advantages, particularly for a PS2 like console, which doesn't have the disadvantage of less choice of games later in life.....finding GC games here in UK is nigh on impossible (except for the select few that have come back in fashion with the Wii, but they now cost just as much as they did 5 years ago...it's had to find SSBM cheap.

I have a 360 - as you know - and a Wii. I enjoy the Wii alot - I have several games. I originally bought it to flip - and played it once. Haven't thought about taking it back yet. It's just plain cool.

I fell for the 360 after playing the CoD2 demo. I was hooked. They had a few games out for it when I bought it - and haven't looked back since. The Wii had a few games I wanted too. As for the PS3, I like the F1 game, but that's it. Resistance looks ok - and Motorstorm wasn't anything like the target render at E3 2005. I said I would buy a PS3, but right now, nah. I'll pass until it proves to me it's worth my money.

As far as the GC, I never had one. However, since my Wii plays GC games, I have picked a few up. I am going to buy a lot more - since they are dirt cheap. I believe in BC, and plan to use it often.

Do you actually think they will burn through the HUNDREDS of games ALREADY made for them so quickly?

Just look at the Greatest Hits and Player's Choice list of both systems, and see how many games you can get for those systems on those alone.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
