Forums - Gaming - Nintendo admits 'dark' future if it can't differentiate from iPhone

Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo, is reportedly an Apple fan who uses an iPhone and Mac laptop. He also denied that there is a rivalry between his company and Apple, noting that attempts to create one makes him "uncomfortable." But Iwata also allegedly sees the iPhone as enough of a threat that Nintendo must work to stand out from it and devices like it.

No offence, but did you have a point in the OP?

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

O'boy another Nintendo is doomed thread.. I say it again and again and again and again. Even when people purchase those new fancy i-thingies and ps-dohikkies.  They look for Apps and even mod thier systems to play or download "NINTENDO" games.  Its sad but I see it all the time a "Mario" game being played on an i-doddle and on ps-majigs.  Nintendo has nothing to fear from those machines.  Just purchase a DS and its multi million selling great titles and save those other machines for phone calls and maybe watching videos....  Enjoy.

This doesn't mean Nintendo is doomed, just that their next portables console will try not to be seen as Ipod or other Apple things...I'm not sure is a good thing, I hope they include in their devices also multimedia like music or photos, just like with the DSi but improved.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

They also had to differentiate themselves from the PS3 and 360 this generation, this is just Nintendo being Nintendo.

i like how Iwata kinda ranted at people for saying the Iphone was the reason for nintendo's decline yet they are still doing it

iPhone sucks for gaming, how is it a threat at all to the DS?

You would think it's the end of Nintendo as we know it based on the silly-ass Apple fanboys on that site.

I hope that Steve Jobs and company don't show Nintendo the same amount of disrespect that their fans do...otherwise they'll be in for a rude awakening. Nokia, Sega, Atari, Neo-Geo, et al will be more than happy to vouch.

signs of a good company, they recognize they need to change and keep innovating even when they are kicking ass. in business if you just keep doing same thing someone will come and do it better and you lose all market share.
