Yep, they can easily make it up by adding a dollar or two to your map packs.

To clarify, I am not saying that the petition is filled with pirates signatures. I was not defending that remark by whoever I quoted. I know very well why people who only get games like this on PC are upset. It's basically a console port with mouse + keyboard support, completely taking out everything that made it unique on PC. I understand all that and that's the reason why I will only be getting it on 360 now rather than on both. I was merely adding to the whole "most PC gamers are pirates" generalization since in my experience as well, it sure seems this way.

That's funny cause statistics who that your experience maybe just that, your experience.

Nah, I think it's the experience of most people, actually, or if not the majority, then at least 1/3 or higher and it will soon be the majority..  Especially when recent PC developers have said that their game's online component is being played by 80% pirates....

Someone already provided the link to show that pirates aren't as much as buyers, can you provide me with actual statistics to show otherwise?

That was just a list of 2008 only.... CoD4 released in 2007.... DemiGod had 80% piracy.  CoD4 had 830,000 downloads in the year after its release... I wonder with the frontloaded holidays if it had 3x that amount in 2007.  No one has shown me any 2007 stats yet.  With CoD4 on PC only having an estimated 1-3 million retail sales, it makes sense that a large portion (of at least one third for most games and much higher for others, which will only keep growing) of the people playing the actual game are pirates.  Why else would IW not release any info on the PC only sales, and then with the next game iteration they only develop a console version?

COD4 PC made far more than just 3 million on retail, you must be tripping. And that's not even including the digital sales AND deals with GPU manufacturers.

Dude, you're the last guy on earth to believe this.

None of the numbers released by Activision validate this, they all validate sells in the 1-3 millions range units...( retail AND digital, when you speak of revenue it's all the same for Activision in the end).

You're out of your mind, Activision NEVER gave any numbers about the PC version, EVER.

COD4 PC was a huge success, and even that idiot Bowling dude from IW said that it had tremendous sales on PC.

COD4 PC is closer to 10 millions than to 2 millions definitely.

Activision gave numbers for sales accross platforms several times.

Last time was May 2009 with 13 millions copies sold over all platforms.....

That includes PC....

Last I checked consoles sales were not negative numbers...

You do the maths...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

I own a PC capable of running MW2 but I consider myself to be more of a console gamer. Anyway based on the projected sales data, it is clear that the PC is becoming less and less of a priority to IW. I saw a PC guy's rant on youtube about how MW2 on PC will no longer have dedicated severs, and will have DLC that cost money this time around. Why are PC gamers so mad that they have to actually have to pay for DLC now? With MW1 PC gamers got for free what console gamers had to pay for. Console gamers are the ones that have the right to be mad. So now that the PC market share has become lower than the console market share, in terms of sales of MW2, PC gamers want IW to cater to your community (the community that it is profiting least on). This just doesn't make any business sense. Get over it PC gamers and buy the game because you are only doing yourself a disservice by not playing it. I bet that if IW sold zero copies of the PC version of the game that they are still making crazy money. That scenario isn't going to happen though because they know that those that will buy the game will outnumber the ones actually boycotting the game.

Because DLC can be easily copied as a mod form he community for free. Why pay for sosme extra maps whe the community is churning them out constanly for free? I have not bought a single piece of DLC yet and I never plan to.

So you're admitting to pirating basically ?

It'll still be the best selling game on PC for the year, probably.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

lol at all these pirates whining about a game that they're stealing.

lol at sweeping and completely baseless generalizations

The large majority of PC gamers are pirates, especially guys that play shooters, so it's pretty safe to say that the majority of those who signed the petition are pirates.

Uh huh.  And how did you come to that conclusion?  A scientific poll?

No need for that. My personal observations aka anecdotal evidence is enuff in this case which is a no-brainer.

U dont agree?

No, he'd be admitting to using community-developped maps, a staple in pretty well any PC game... other than MW2.

No, he's admitting to downloading content made by other people in their spare time to supplement his game experience, some of which is arguably better than the official pay-for DLC released.

This is the main reason PC gamers are complaining. PC gamers like and have always had freedom, a lot more than console gamers (What with PC being a pretty open platform). IW have basically made a console experience on the PC. That doesn't work when all previous iterations had the level of freedom to create, play and customise that PC gamers have come to expect. It wouldn't suprise me to see more people playing CoD4 on PC than MW2 by next year. In fact, I wouldn't be suprised to see more people playing Counterstrike:Source than MW2 by next year.

It looks like some PC haters totally ignore some freedoms PC gives. And they don't care about them. But we care, and we'll keep on caring and nobody will shut us up.
