Forums - Nintendo - Call of Duty: MW Reflex 1st week sales

May get advertised further along the line, or not at all.

I say maybe ~25k first week worldwide, but that isn't based off anything.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

UPDATE: The first week numbers of accounts are in, and it seems I underestimated the title... again.

First week account numbers were a little over 32k worldwide. I'd say, without the hackers and duplicate accounts, about 29k of those accounts were buying customers.

Let's say that at least 30% of the buyers didn't go online yet. That comes down to ~40k of first week worldwide sales.

Not bad for a 2 year old port. I'm pretty sure the game will sell between 550k - 750k in its first year.

That's about what WaW did, which is what I expected.

I think this will sell well on the back of MW2 and then a Wii-specific campaign around and about Xmas, just like WaW. This appears to have sold similar amounts to last year. It is interesting to watch the numbers of online players grow. The teen casual market is on other consoles, which is why COD games sell much larger quantities over there...

There were 35,000 plus names on the leaderboard last night.

p.s. I tried to join you in a match yesterday Chrizum, but I think you were playing a private game. Next time I'll let you know I'm about with an invite?

Yes.

Well what I thought would happen does seem to be happening... Wii owners are in the stores on the hype of MW2 and picking MW Reflex because of it. It's really not all that surprising and that is going to drive sales of the game. At least in the short term... will need a nice marketing campaign to have similar sales of World at War unless that brand is starting to do a little better on the Wii.

I think your predictions for first week are quite solid. My guess would have been about 50,000 but I'd go with a 30k-40k range as well. I'll just be curious of how this game sales once the holidays hit. World at War got helped by the TV commercials but its possible Reflex could sell in the long run just by having Modern Warfare in the name. Especially considering it doesn't have to compete with anything in that genre. Well I guess The Conduit but it didn't build up enough brand to really be a big contender. So for LT, I don't have much of an answer but I'd assume at least 300,000 to 500,000 by the end of the year.

When I picked my copy up today, the 3 people in front of me were buying MW2. I was afraid they would give me a wedgie and call me casual noob when they heard what I was buying.

The display at EB games had what looked to be a thousand copies of MW2 with posters all over the place.

COD4 for the wii had zero adds and three copies in the wii new release section. The same amount of boxes that were on display for dead space extraction.

It doesn't look too promising for the game. I'll say 10,000 first week and 500,000 lifetime.

lol i loled at that part.. but anyway, i dont give a rats arse what people think, i just walked in and buy the 2 year old port

sounds a solid estimate - I reckon about 50,000 cos the online leaderboard names are up to about 35,000 - 38,000 now.

Of course WAW had the advantage of being the latest COd realease ande being released alongside the HD versions. This game has the advantage of having a huge online component as most people will buy it for that and word of mouth will spread the the core wii players that this game is the one to have for online play.

@Chrizum: You really think 70% of the people who bought the game went online already?

im hoping 50k America alone

Guys it's been confirmed that it sold 70,000 units week one, check the latest VGC news story :)

In line with my expectations.

So just higher than WaW. That's definitely good.
