Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Looks like sony's fate is not SEALED this month...

Geez why are people so worked up over this? Anyone shopping at Wal-Mart for a 360 likely shops at Wal-Mart anyway so a $100 gift card is pretty much the same as $100 cash to them. Are fanboys that worried that this is going to push sales? Who cares? Its a sale...the happen alot leading up to the holidays.

The $99 was a joke because people are getting annoyed by the constant use of it.
What I really wanted to know is do you have to pay tax on top of the advertised price on everything you buy in America.
Seems a bit silly.

Hey, if I have time, I'll call it like I see it.

Look, just drop it. I wasn't the person who said I called 9 Wal-Marts to confirm a deal or such, for a system I don't own.

You were the one who felt the need to do it. As much as I love gaming, I would never, ever do anything even remotely close to that. Then, to admit it - to post in great detail what I did - you better be ready for some backlash if you do.

What I said in the election and before it stands. Just because we have different views on gaming consoles and their popularity shouldn't make a difference.

I am not trying to personal attack you, but when you do something petty and announce that you did it, and don't expect anyone to say anything? Oh wow.

KBG29 did it and was proud of his achievement. You did the same thing - to dispute what someone was doing.

You know, I did ask an associate there if the deal was still going on - she said no. Cool. But I didn't go there to dispute something or the like.

Like it or not, it's your own words - and quoted by a few folks. I didn't force you or make you call those stores. You did it with your own free will.

First of all, this was meant to be an informative thread.

I saw that a lot of people on VGC were confused about the deal, most of them being in the the other thread. I said it in the other thread, and I posted it in a new thread as well.

You compared me to someone who tried to convince people not to buy HDDVD players. How are you any different spending your personal time writing, on a videogame website of all places, to convince people of political matters/clearing up the facts. I don't see how me clearing up the facts (where even you encountered misinformation at your walmart), is any different than what you've done in the past. I want to know how it's petty.

Ask anyone, I've owned all three consoles, and I like all three consoles. PS3 is the only one I've held on to. (Also, where am I disputing what someone was doing?)

The fact of the matter is that I was offended that you not only mocked me once (which is forgivable), but three times! I don't see how this is justifiably calling me out. This was aggressiveness over something so trivial (as you put it) as backing up what I'm saying with some actual proof.

PS: Maybe it would help when I say I called while I was at work? I sit at a table making 12$ an hour not doing anything except post on vgc, study for my classes, play video games, and call walmarts. It's not that I don't have a life, but just that my life allows a lot more freedom than yours.

yeah I know. But, we are a consumerist society, moreso than most countries, and that requires tricking people into thinking a price is lower than it actually is.

There are SIX Wal-Marts in Maryland?

Holy hell.

I just did a search and there are 20 Walmarts within 30 miles of my zip. And 6 within 6 miles.

Just shows you what our priorities are .

I wouldnt buy a xbox even at 99

meh, your loss.

@ Lord Flash: Are you asking if the advertised price must include tax? if so, then the answer is no.

Anyway, people who are saying the box is $99.00 are usually referring to the "before tax" price, so yes, they are right. Also, they are people who plan on using the gift card on something else, so to them, the 360 is a $99.00 console (before tax)

Really, I don't see why everybody is making such a big deal out of this whole $99.00 vs/ $199.00 console. It's all about perspective...and how can you argue, when both sides are right?

Past Avatar picture!!!

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

So it's down to the sellers choice if they include tax in the price.
Do they have to include the price+tax in the small print anywhere in the price tag as well?

@lord
depending on the state, you may or may not pay taxes.
For the most part, you will be paying taxes on top of whatever something is advertised as.
Also, there are sometimes tax holidays, or other tax deals, but those are usually explicitly listed.

are you so paranoid about xbox would be temporary success that you have to phone several chain of walmarts just to make sure? holy macro! play your games and enjoy or do you work for Sony? ;) Don't worry to much.

paranoid? I actually come to this site to discuss sales, and I play in the prediction league and such things. Knowing how much something is going to sell is important information to me, and many others.

Maybe you are paranoid that everyone you meet online is a fanboy.
