Forums - Sales - Can Xbox 360 OUTSELL Ps3 this Week?!!

nightsurge said:
Wow... can people really not stop calling it a $99 Xbox 360? It is in no way shape or form a $99 Xbox. It is a $199 Xbox Arcade with a gift card that has to be used on other products and can not be put towards the purchase of the Arcade itself. If you want to be technical it's basically a $200 Pro (using the gift card to buy the 60GB upgrade pack).

So from here on out can we please accept anyone calling this a $99 Xbox 360 as trolling, since after constant explanation that is all they are doing now?

Sincerely,
nightsurge

I agree night. My cousin bought this deal and was upset when she found out how small the ahrd drive was. I laughed and said she should have been more aware. In my mind, the Arcade is a joke SKU for MS to sell, no serious, or semi serious gamer could consider it useful with such a small hard drive.

Is this all just an effort by MS to get rid of all the Arcade units? Or is this something that Walmart did on their own?

I have a feeling they will be pretty much tied this week. Perhaps a slight advantage in favour of the 360. To be expected of course, $99 and also an MW2 bundle.

Kantor, I'm ashamed of you.  I've never picked you for being one to not know the true situation.... it's a $199 Xbox 360 still.  The Walmart gift card can not be used on the purchase of the Xbox 360.  It has to go towards other things.

I don't know, everyone was saying "$99 360", so I figured Wal-Mart had done a temporary price cut.

DAMN YOU ALL!

Lol, understood.    I know you aren't the type that would troll so I figured in your instance it was just incorrect word of mouth.

Its just a Walmart deal on their own.  They are spreading out the Black Friday deals all month rather than just that one day.

If she uses the $100 gift card on the 60GB starter pack that would basically make it a $200 Pro (which if still available anywhere sells for $250) so that'd be a decent deal, too.

Well it technically is a $100 Xbox 360,  yeah you still have to buy it for $200, but then you next $100 in items that you would normally buy from Wal-mart.  If they didnt get the gift card they would still spend that $100 but it would be out of their pockets like normally.  So the way the average consumer would see it is they are getting the 360 for $100,  while getting all there other shopping done as they would normally.

Will they be doing any more Black Friday deals?

So it is a $199 Xbox 360.  Your other items are cheaper or free in this case, not the 360 itself.  I see what you are saying, but I just don't think it fits to call it a $99 Xbox when there is no way you can purchase one for that price and the money saved is AFTER the purchase of the 360.  If anything I will accept that it is a $199 Pro 60GB 360 since that is what it would be if you used the gift card on the first immediate upgrade for the Arcade.

good deal imo. its a $99 arcade which ever way you look at it. with the other $99 to be used on other things, including the unit.

if 360 > ps3 this week i predict many people will come out of hiding and start jumping out of the bike sheds:)

PS3 cost 238 Euros this week in Germany, don`t know how that is big,
but for September:

1. PlayStation 3 - 88.000
2. Wii - 31.200
3. Xbox 360 - 16.300

I love how some of you only look the NA market. Sure it's a big one, but NA is under the Others market.

And last week we have see the rebate in Germany and in France too (PS3 down to 239 € to 249€)

So the boost for the 360 in NA will be reduced by the boost in Others.

But tracking numbers in Others is much more difficult for VGC

only if ps3 sales drop, but why would they? dont forget modern warfare also released on ps3 and ps3 is getting promotions around europe, so it should increase there

Can't be used on the purchase of the 360.  Still a $199 Arcade no matter how you look at it.  Your bill will always say $199 paid.
