Forums - Sony - Sony is the poison killing storytelling in gaming.

Yes.  I have the balls, the nads, and the grits to say that Sony is the poison killing storytelling.  There is not a game whether it be modern Sony giant like Uncharted 2 or classic Crash Bandicoot that can compare or be seen in the same grace as something like Chrono Trigger or Super Mario Bros.  The problem for this, simply put, is that Sony does not support the rescuing of princesses.  Hell, ICO was probably the only title that had a chance to having a series with a good storyline but the princess was replaced with Colossi and a Manhattan rat in its successors.  This is poisoning gaming because so many Sony patrons have become unaware of the delights.  Their virgin eyes and ears may never know the tales of a certain time traveler, a certain Hylian and a certain plumber.

Princess rescuing is the lifeblood of storytelling in gaming.  It shows moral ambiguity, it can be appreciated by all audiences, and it provides direction in the narrative.

And if anyone is willing to say Microsoft has also neglected rescuing princesses, play Kameo: Elements of Power.  Not only does it have princess rescuing, you also later play as the saved princess which later rescues her family and a series of elemental warriors.

@Seraphic

Why yes, yes they are. They've abandoned their core fans. I want a new Uncharted with Drake rescuing Princess Chloe.

@Rainbird

It's a sad truth. I only hope some PS3 owners someday buy a Wii.

The rescuing isn't as much a part of the story as it is a gimmick for the strategy gameplay.
