Stuff like this happens all the time, it happened with Assasins creed 1 aswell, or not so long ago with Eidos and batman and I thought with rockstar aswell.

Batman? I know Eidos was guilty of that for the latest Tomb Raider, but i don't remember them being accused of that for Arkham Asylum.

I believe there was a theory with people that Eidos only allowed reviewers to post early reviews if they gave it a 9+.  This came up after the first review gave it a 9+.   The theory died once people found out the game was actually awesome, and personally I think it stemmed more from people's expectations of the game not being worth a 9+ than any actual evidence of trickery.

...

so free game = high score???
THIS IS EXTORTIONNNNNNNNNNNN

I understand that most people use metacritic as a standart to see if a game is worth the buy or it isn't. That's why the review system should be more strict and complete than it is nowadays. Personally, I liked the old system in where only a few select and recognized institutions reviewed the games, and not some unknown gaming media that can manipulate their own agenda to further inflate personal goals.

We still kind of have that

many people still believe IGN Reviews are the best & so on

@gustave154

quite simply, yeah

It's not about being free. The cost is not the issue.

The reviewers receive their copies weeks ahead of release. Since most game sales occur near release, the earliest reviews have the greatest impact on sales.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

It's true, some old stays like IGN and Gamespot are still here even after all this years, still most people nowadays cling unto the more shady reviewers, especially when they are favorable to their opinion, thus creating a void filled with manipulated reviews and scores sometimes not reflecting the actual quality of the game.
Some recent games are a reflection of that, and I do trully believe if classic games like Zelda OoT, Zelda ALTTP, FFVI, MGS and many others were reviewed using today media, their criticism would suffer immensly from it.

Current PC Build

I hope review sites and magazines list which companies refuse to send them copies of games, over stuff like this.

ubisoft = one of the best
i love em
