Forums - Sales - System Mover Game of the Day (11/11) - Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Thanks Chairman, I thought it was an interesting idea, and was hoping people would like it. MGS4 is definitely on my list of games to do, and not surprising out of the many games I've done the calculations for, MGS4 caused the biggest % week over week increase.

This game made me buy a Wii. If it wasn't for SSBB, I'm not sure I'd own a Wii now.
I'm sure it could get better sales (especialy first week) in Europe, if it had a simultaneous release (with US).

"And yet, I've realized that maybe living a "decent" life means you won't ever have a "good" life."

I feel it moved systems, this can be seen from percentages.

The main reason for this is that there is not similar game on wii to Super Smash Bros Brawl, although Mario Galaxy & so on were out, remember Super Smash BRos Meless was gamecubes top selling title, so in a way the fanbase for SUper Smah Bros is bigger than that for a 3D mario.

Thats why there was such a big increase in sales.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I still need some more votes and comments please.

Well, I can say this game was the sole reason I bought a Nintendo Wii, and MANY gamers held out until the game released in order to buy the console.

Super Smash Brother's Brawl (like Mario Kart Wii and Wii Sports) are one of THE reasons to own a Wii, just like Halo is the reason to own an Xbox.

Gamers from the GC era who played Super Smash Bros. Melee were heavily anticipating this title, hence its astounding first week sales. It would've sold more in Europe/Others 1st week had it released around the same time (~3 months).

However, due to the recent Wii hardware price drop, people are recognizing SSBB as a marquee Wii title once again, and its sales are going up in Others. Whether the holiday season is having an effect as well remains to be seen, but Smash is back on the charts, and just passed 8.75 million copies (love saying that) and will hit 10 million one day.

I don't think this can really be measured properly outside of Japan.  America obviously was due to supply.  It would have sold the same with or without SSBB.  It was actually higher two weeks before.  Others is a bit harder to tell.  It had been a bit lower in the few weeks before Brawl's lauch.  But another thing to notice is that so was Wii Fit.  The week that Brawl launched Wii Fit sales tripled, and was the first week of constant high sales.  Obviously Brawl had some effect, but it is hard to say how much was that and how much was Wii/Wii Fit supply.

Nice Post Yakuzaice, well thought out.

I'm going off topic in my own thread, but I was wondering if anybody would be willing to help me out. I've just been using boring box arts (like in this thread) at the top of articles, and I was thinking it would be nice to have something a little different. For this series because we are talking about moving systems, I was thinking something like A truck with the game's logo on it, moving a trailer with the stack of systems on it (this case Wii's). Or anything along those lines, with something literally suggesting a game moving hardware. I've tried a bit to get something to work, but it hasn't come out right. If anybody who is good with paint/or photoshop would be willing to help me out, I'd really appreciate it, and would give a special thanks in every article I use the image. If you would be willing to do it just reply in here or send me a pm.

I will be posting the article in a few hours so get your votes and comments in.
