I'm currently putting together a 7 page document to the owners and designers of this site about this very thing. Yes Ive noticed this so called rule by a mod. But from the actual sales figures and background ifo I have been putting together clearly shows that console market exists alongside the PC not with it. Hopefully the sites creators will see this to, when they have my plea to save this site. Afterall my concerns for the action of the thread link you post are completely against trends, factual sales and the crossover gamers.

The definition is arbitrary, simply chosen for ease of remembering and to stop alot of really stupid arguments. You can make a huge argument if you want, but I doubt it will acheive anything.

It's not arguing, it's dictation. The site has become less of a pleasure to use. And thats alot due to people not giving their honest opinions anymore for fear of bans. It's pretty clear PC and Console don't compete for an array of reasons. So an exclsuive to a console should be viewed as such, if we are talking Hardware sales and software sales. Isn't that what the site is? After all if say FF13 was 360/PC this gen, that would sell a HEAP of 360's and almost certainly give PS3 it's coffin. See my point? PC gamer knows he is a PC gamer. He spends money upgrading and will always do so. He will have on through any console generation. a console owner will likely not be upgrading his PC he uses for Internet Explorer, and Splinter Cell being on PC for example is not gonna make him change his decision about which console to own for what games.

First thing, you should be glad you post on a forum that allows criticism of official policy. Publicly dissenting on some other fourms = ban, maybe permaban.
That said, the exclusive rule was necessary, discussions were being derailed by inappropriate use of the term. Take this thread for example, which is by no means an isolated incident. Someone makes a thread proclaiming a new game is 360 exclusive. No other relevant information is provided! Nothing about the developer, genre, or anything except that it's "exclusive" to 360. Maybe now that people can no longer state multiplats to be exclusive, they might try and make thread titles more factual so those who glance by recent topics get a fairly clear idea of what the thread's about.
Your generalizations about pc and console gamers are hazardous at best. A console-only gamer could easily not own a current generation console, playing his ps2 and enjoying that just fine. He, just as your hypthetical PC gamer, may not worry about the current genration consoles, rather playing and enjoying what he has. In this case, I fail to see the distinction you arbitrarily made, as there will be always be those who want the latest things, just as there will be those who are okay using older hardware. This is not console/pc issue at all.
Finally, how does PCs/consoles competing or not competing have any relevance to this? The issue was people using the term exclusive where it simply wasn't the case, creating confusion and derailing arguments. I could be entirely wrong here, but I would venture a guess that naz did this so there would less threads created by those obessesed with exclusives, and more threads by those interested in the games themselves. Additionally, all those who would previously interject into threads saying "but wait... this is on PC as well" won't post and perhaps instead contribute something to the topic.
