Nintendo DS.

Second favourite system of all time, behind the N64.

N-Gage :)

Not the best gaming handheld probably, but I enjoyed having it very much and not messing around with many devices.

Also, there were hidden gems in it's software collection, like High Seize, my personal love, or Glimmerati. On top of this, you might had emulator for retrogaming joy.

I understand I'm probably a bit too casual here, but that device filled my needs perfectly and was suprisingly cheap, too. Both DS and PSP are overkill for portable gaming, from my perpective. If DS someday will do voice call in less bulky size and weight, then it's SuperHit for guys like me.

does the ipod really count as a gaming handheld? really?

what qualifies a machine as a 'handheld gaming device'

For me it's a smartphone. If the Ipod/Iphone is called "gaming handheld" because it has games, every cellphone should be called  "gaming handheld".

Sorry CGI, just my opinion. You are doing an excellent job man.

first of all the iPod touch can't be considered a smartphone.. Second of all you make no qualms with the n-gage being in this list.. And thirdly you just don't know:

http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=89891&page=1

People can make a big list of games for a simple w580... and still, it's only a cellphone.

I talked about the Ipod (and not the n-gage) because everyone was talking about the Ipod. I HAVE an Ipod touch and a n95. For me, "gaming  handheld" is a handheld more focused on games, not a smartphone/cellphone that has a big list of games.

I suppose if there were a DS phone and A PSPhone they wouldn't be considered handhelds either, right? Let's just ignore all of the game they can play though..

My last post on this thread because I already caused a lot of troubles for CGI. Is it a gaming handheld? Because it has snake and other games:

It's a phone.

Is ipod touch a phone though? No.  Saying iPhone doesn't count just because it has phone capabilities is just foolishness. Also it is obvious the games found in this thread http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=89891&page=1 have more complexity than snake so all that you are really doing is just trying to be a smartass.

EDIT: Truth be told I think you decided it was not a real handheld because of the distribution model, which is not fair considering the DS and psp both have their own digital distribution portals (with the psp GO! wholely utilizing this) so I really don't see where you can get off saying this..

Still waiting for a response. But maybe you realized you were wrong, eh?

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... I said: "Sorry for all the mess." (so, I stopped)

If it was my thread or off-topic enabled, I could argue with you all the day. You gave me the perfect answer to make me show how wrong you are here: "It's a phone." (but I won't use it because we will never stop )

Just to let you know how I think about it: If it's primarily a system that can make calls (Iphone) it's a smartphone/phone that can play games. If it's primarily a system that can play games BUT has skype, it's a gaming handheld. See? Skype is just a second/third function for the gaming handheld, make calls is a primary function for the Iphone.

But now I understand why Ipod was on the list. It's not a gaming handheld but it's a handheld after all, people can play games on it and if they think that Ipod is their favorite handheld to play games (even if it's a smartphone or phone) they will vote here. CGI won't add every handheld on the earth, only the most notable handhelds

On the contrary. Look at the red-ed.

But let's go with what you are saying: "IPhone isn't a handheld because It's a phone and is not primarily used for games. It's the same as a calculator or a cell phone from the 80's with snake on it."

Okay, now let's destroy what you think: iPhone is a phone, yes? The iPod Touch isn't. In fact, it was marketed for it's apps with games being a priority. What you think I'm lying?

There you go. But wait, by your definition iPod touch is a Gaming handheld due to the fact that it plays games and has skype!

http://www.skype.com/intl/en/download/skype/iphone/

Now I know what you are thinking now: "this guy just doesn't get it, iPod are used for Music!"

Well yes, they are. But so are PSP's, Nintendo DS's, and almost every other recent handheld (N-gage, Gamepark 32, Zodiac, gizmondo) as well.

You know what I am starting to see here?

PSP:            plays games, has skype, plays music and multimedia.

iPod Touch: plays games, has skype, plays music and multimedia.

DS: plays games, has skype, plays music and multimedia.

OMG THIS IS A REVEALATION. LOOK HERE GUYS OMG, the PSP and iPod are THE SAME. OMG ROFLCOPTER.

Now let's just relate this to the iPhone, shall we? It's an iPod Touch... That is also a Phone. Should that discredit it? No. If sony erikkson made a psphone, would that make the PSP library not count, because a version of the psp is A PHONE. No.

HOW MUCH MORE BASIC CAN I BREAK IT DOWN FOR YA.

Whether you like it or not, the iPod is now a gaming handheld. Deny it all you want, but you're wrong, bud.

If you're counting both the GB and GBC...I'd have to say that. But only because the DS isn't done yet. At the moment, I'd actually say the DS and GB are tied. But since I can only choose one, the original GB/GBC. You just can't beat its huge library, including Zelda, Metroid II, Pokemon, Dragon Quest I-III + Monsters and more.

Soon however, the DS is probably going to have a similar (if not surpassing) library of games to the one I just named. Once I play Dragon Quest VI and IX and if they added a 2D Metroid to the system, it would probably be DS hands down.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

I'll vote for the Nomad even if it's not on the list. It was great if you had a large collection of genesis games. The battery issue was...regrettable.

I really just don't think you can rebuke this.. I mean, at least try. Please, try. I want you to prove it isn't a handheld. Please, prove me wrong.

Actually this is an open challenge for anybody entering this thread and viewing this post:

If you can prove the iPod Touch isn't a gaming handheld, then you may have all of my  VG$ money, my dignity, and supreme ownage. But It isn't going to happen.

And besides, CGI should be happy, we are giving his thread life and keeping it afloat. It would have proably died around 50 posts if it weren't for me
