Microsoft did say know matter what they will outsell the ps3, so to beat the ps3 they are giving the xbox 360 away for free. Kinda funny. Wonder what would happen if they did this for the ps3(buy a ps3 for 150 and get a 150 gift card). Good for microsoft should be interesting to see what sells it puts up.

What part of a "Walmart sale that is in no way connected to Microsoft" do you not understand?  Walmart is doing this of their own free will.  This affects Microsoft in no way shape or form besides positively

Do you also realize that $199 - $100 is still $99 and not free?  Do you then further realize that this is not a price cut or discount, but a GIFT CARD after you already pay the full $199 price?  The gift card can only be used to get the equivalent of free games or something, not a free or discounted console (unless you use the giftcard on another console).

7 pages of damage control, surely it would have been better to have just ignored the statement. The reference to 360 surpassing the PS3 sales was perfectly reasonable given the thread discussion though anyway.

@ku - If you prefer you graphics with a blur then yes GTAIV looked nicer on PS3, personally I'll take the extra resolution and AA of the 360 version as when its installed the small issue of some texture popin vanishes too. The rest of your statements are bordering on being as petty and silly as the poster you quoted, with his name he really didn't warrant a response.

Ku

let's keep the flame posts out and keep this thread on topic.

Loudwhite- it was reported a little earlier in the thread that amazon was matching the sale, but now we have learned the sale is extending to the end of the week...and will cover the timeperiod of the mw2 launch. It's not known if amazon is going to match this sale for the entire week.

Didn't you mean "outselling it's competitor by ONLY 70k + since Spetmeber despite a 25% price cut and a new model release".

That sort of damage control is what I meant.

Im sure Microsoft and Walmart worked out some type agreement.  I used to work for amazon and all there special for a product were mostly a deal they made with the company.  On the price i was wrong and I looked at your title saying Xbox 360 for $99.  So thats my fault but its the same price as the PS2.

The $99 price is only via Amazon.  And no, there was no agreement made between MS and Walmart.  As with all Black Friday deals, they are up to the company that has them, not the manufacturers.  Walmart is using the 360 as a way for people to come in and buy HDTVs or other electronics with that $100 gift card.

360 owners are now celebrating the possibility 360 might out sale PS3 for one week in NA, oh how the might have fallen.

Minimum 10, go with that number. Depending on location some walmarts might not even get that. Allocation always favors some one.

By the way better hope 360 sale a lot, if not you will get slammed a $100 360 can't out sale a $300 PS3 lol.

I actually though about picking up a 360 for $100, but the arcade is a joke so no.
