Crazy twisted to drop the price of the Arcade while leaving the model with the hdd where it is....when you have an expensive proprietary hard drive just calling out to people to buy one after they get the Arcade and decide they want a hard drive after all.

Price is hugely important, though.  This will move consoles.

Do anybody realize that this offer is actually equivalent to a 33% discount, not to a 50% one?
People must still spend $199 and they get stuff worth $299 for them. Put this way, it's the usual 3x2 offer most supermarkets regularly do on a wide array of items. Anyhow, a good offer, but it won't have the same effects of a REAL 50% discount.

I have a feeling the average for today was only ~20 per store, but once you factor that in with at least 2 or 3 more shipments this week, that's at least 210,000 sales this week in the US alone for the 360. That would give it around 290-300k for the week worldwide. So with another shipment coming in today at 4:00PM already, you can probably expect 4 or 5 shipments this week.

ok now I expect 250K - 300K xbox 360's sold this week (or last week, or whatever week this day will be tracked for)

any less & I'll be disappointed

Halo OSDT and a $50 rebate couldn't help the 360 outsell the PS3 in any region this September so why would this help the 360 sell DOUBLE what the PS3 sells?

This is not a price drop.  It isn't even sponsored or suggested or supported by MS in any way.  It is a Walmart sale.

Nice of you to admit this is just your hope and delusion that the 360 won't outsell the PS3.

Oh and this is just in the US.... perhaps you are thinking of other regions where the PS3 isn't less than 1/2 the 360 install base?

Also, I'm not making predictions, I am looking at facts and just laying out the possibilities.  I draw no conclusions here and am not guaranteeing or even formally saying I EXPECT a certain result (other than the number of shipments).
