This in fact may be a test bed for Microsoft.  They may keep the 360 at $199 and just cut deals for other stores to have the $100 gift card as well.

It could and if not planned, I bet that they'll still take notes.

"Good, so the general consensus is that this offer will generate sales, but where will they come from? Let's try to group the buyers and list them in a condescension order."

generates sales .... but how many ?

let's wait a little will you

Oh but I'm not trying to predict the effect of the offer, but where the sales most likely will come from sorted by magnitude.

If this is the big offer before Black Friday, what could be an even bigger BF one? $100 gift card with every Wii on stock? Buy a 40+" Full HD TV and get a free Wii? Buy a Wii and get a free Balance Board?

why do  u want something bigger ?

by doing this, there will get advertising that they possess an "awesome" dela that people will look for during black friday

for me, it more advertising than anything else

Because the offer ends BEFORE Black Friday, nightsurge, a few posts above mine that you answered to, gave tha dates he asked at a Walmart shop.

So, if they have something so big in the entertainment department before Black Friday, they'll need something even bigger to show for BF itself. And I guess it could be a Wii offer, as it's still the biggest one, both in USA and WW.

From my understanding, black friday isn't going to be huge like in the past for walmart.  At least that was what one of the employees told me while I was in line.  I have a family member that works for walmart but I haven't asked them much about it.  If I get time I will.

This is true.  Walmart, Sears, Target, Meijer, etc. are all offering early Black Friday deals to spread out the traffic and make that one day less of a hazzard to shoppers (Walmart worker died last year in a stampede).  So basically Black Friday will probably be a bit bigger than these early deals, but no where near as big as the previous years'.

^^
Thanks for clarifying this matter. It could make sense twice, avoiding BF chaos and avoiding sales drying up too much just before BF to wait for its deals. This won't exclude big BF offers ,anyway, as they'd want to relieve excessive pressure, but not to make people buy elsewhere. Pushing forward BF sales they won't lose them, they'll just spread them along a wider time span, and earn more from interests. Congested stores are a lot less efficient too, so limiting this problem they also reduce increased costs and missed earnings.

Halo OSDT and a $50 rebate couldn't help the 360 outsell the PS3 in any region this September so why would this help the 360 sell DOUBLE what the PS3 sells?

These aren't predictions, these are hopes, dreams and delusions.

Halo ODST was a sequel to a title already on the 360 and tell me one place besides Xbox.Com that you noticed any advertisement of the 1 week rebate.

I picked up 2 Arcades to be used for my Sons school band programs (raffle items for fundraising) that I wouldnt have purchased before.  The Walmart I went to had 37 Arcades. The one my sister went to had 17.  They both sold out in minutes.  Most of the other people in line thought the price was so good so they were picking Arcades up for gifts. $100 price hard to beat.

^^o ya u guys also forget that no one tracks sales from Wal-Mart. So it will probably be ignored.

Everything on this site is estimations. So if you know for a fact that a promotion like this occurred then the numbers should be taken into account.  We know for a fact that at the very minimum each Walmart got 10 per store and many had double or triple that.

As for the argument that this just took sales away from other stores. Only if the people were able to get in line early and even knew about the sale.  The advertising for this just started Thursday of last week via online and newspapers.  Safe to assume the vast majority didnt know about it and they still sold out.

LOL, microsoft if morally weak! rarely does anything they offer actually live up to what they claim. they create these rediculous timed exclusives, $$$. their systems failure rate has got to be some sort of record in the history of consumer products. now they have teamed up with walmart on this deal, plus a recent walmart commercial has the nerve to blatanly say that the 360 is the BEST system for mw2. LOL, they are a bad company. Also, a year or so ago, when I wanted to cancel the re-up on my subscription with live. well, that was a nightmare, thought i'd never be able to get that done. let the truth be the truth, if they weren't such a monopolizer of so much computer software and such, creating billions in revenue a year, they would not have been able to gather such "positive" reviews from the media or such strong support from retailers. LOL. money seems to be all that matters.
