I'm not gonna lie. I'm not fan of this new rule that states that you cannot call a game exclusive just because it is only available to one specific console and PC. Personally to me that's all perception and definitely a stretching rule that kind of shows that moderation is getting far out of hand and going the same way of that other forum that bans any VGChartz talk. But anyway, I'll stop my rant on that and focus on another issue here:

Since that's a bannable offense I believe that it should be also bannable to claim that X console is winning the format war even tho Y really is but Y console shouldn't count because it is NOT an HD console. Yes, we're talking about the Wii. If people can claim PS3 is kicking ass this generation because its beating all HD consoles is pretty dumb. Wii plays videogames just like Xbox 360 and PS3 so by default there should be no different between the 3 consoles when it comes to claiming winning status.

If people want to say the Wii doesn't count because it isn't a console then it will be moderated. If people want to say the PS3 is doing well and decide not to compare it to the Wii then that's their choice. People don't have to acknoledge that the Wii is kicking the crap out of the HD consoles with every post they make.

I understand that. What's annoying is to separate consoles based on whether it is HD or not. The HD term is a marketing campaign to sell an upgrade to quality of image on TVs and such. Technically, computer monitors were HD way before TVs or Consoles were yet the term wasn't used since computer monitors had no need to advertise it as such. So when it comes to comparisson I'm just a firm believer that Wii is as much competition to the PS3 and 360 when it comes to console sales. The HD term has nothing to do when it comes to supremacy in sales. That is my only complain.

It is competition, absolutely, but that isn't a question of definitions like the idea of Exclusive or Console Exclusive, that's a question of the arguments people want to make. If people want to argue that the Wii has a completely demographic and is not a source of competition to the HD consoles then I think that's stupid, but not trolling. The site defined Exclusive and Console Exclusive because it was a source of constant silly arguments that could be easily brought to an end by defining it one way or another, the situation you are talking about is not comparable.

Ah its simple. See, the majority of the users on the site are PS3 fans. To not let them gloat about something as irrelevant as "our system is winning IF you only count HD consoles" , it would be like not serving beer at a bar that has a majority of beer drinkers. You have to cater to your fanbase.

Well lets just throug the DS and PSP in against them too then. The Wii targets a different audience, and has different games. The X360 and PS3 are almost identical with multi-platform games, etc. so this is why they are compared to each other and the Wii is not. Wii really does cater to a whole new audience, as well as to nintendo fans and kids alike

Ah, but see, this is perception. I'm a PS2, PS1, N64 owner and this generation I own a Wii. Are you basically calling me a different type of gamer just because I own the Wii? I don't think so. My game library is based on all what you guys would consider the "hardcore" games and own some of the silly 5 minute thrills games.
