Forums - Nintendo - Why is a high-def Wii needed?

to be honest Nintendo made a huge mistake not making the Wii HD.

If they did it for the Wii's orig release then the would be no such thing as a HD war and the Wii would be sitting on sales that would make the DS look average.

And i really believe that. It would have had the hardcore and casuals. batman AA, Assassins Creed, Final Fantasy 13, Tekken 6 and other big 3rd party games aswell as Nintendo's first party all on the little white box.

It would have been killer

How relevant is Tekken 6 at this point in time?  Is it even going to get in striking distance of Smash Bros on the Wii saleswise?

you missed the point...T6 sales vs SSBB is irrelevant...its more Wii misses out on Big brands because of limitations

"OK let me put it this way would the PS3 and 360 be selling now if they had the same graphics as the Wii?" -------------- actually yes..considering nobody would kno wat todays PS360 games would look like so wat they have to compare it too?

they would have looked like the Wii's games. ;)

When you think about it though if the HD twins would have been SD they wouldnt be selling the amounts they are selling now because the Wii would have just eaten up all the sales and the games would easilly be ported or by now lead developed.

Last gen the GC had lots of multiplat core games and it was getting killed by the PS2.

Core games would have been on wii. selling very well had it been hd. So because of this the need for the PS360 would be deminished. Look at last gen because how the same the consoles were.

Most core gamers in my opinion would have picked the Wii over PS360 because it would have been the best of both worlds

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

It isn't needed at all.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

1st time fully agree with you.

Matter fact NINTENDO would be a bunch weenis if they let a bunch internet nobodies force them into a early new gen console when there the market leaders

Wii doesn't need "HD." With a 360 in my house the cult-like obsession with all things Aych Deeeeee makes even less sense as the game experience hasn't changed much and a good portion of the games aren't actually HD.

People saying it's the reason Wii isn't getting support are in denial. Gamecube was a beast compared to PS2 and it still missed out on 3rd parties, so even when Nintendo has that extra power under the hood they were still getting shunned. When developers want to put forth the effort to have their games on the Wii, it happens (Call of Duty). If they can pull it off there's not much reason anyone else can't.

Oh and on topic lol

Even though i think a HD Wii would have stolen more market-share

It is to late for it to make a difference now and a HD Wii isnt needed

Thank you Claude...i feel retarded for not bringing the obvious GC comparison up

I think a Wii HD would be a great idea simply because developers would port quality HD games to the Wii HD as well.

Graphics aside, the Wii just doesn't offer the same experience.

Maybe so. However Nintendo's next generation console must be HD!
