We all know the PS3 is doing better at this moment than the 360 was doing last year.

In the biggest week of the year (in 2008), over 870k 360s have been sold. The PS3 only needs to sell 130k extra to achieve the million mark.

Now, this isn't guaranteed just because the PS3 is doing better now than the 360 was last year, but that's the week Final Fantasy XIII will be released in Japan, giving the PS3 a big boost there! I'd say the possibility is 75 %.

Anything is possible i guess when talking about Final Fantasy. It is released a little later in December though.

as nice as that would be, i remain doubtful. the reason is the economy. in years past the holiday surge could be seen as early as the first week of october. here we just finished october and haven't really seen a surge. the numbers are all pretty stagnant. this all leads me to think that we will not see as big of spikes as we have before. i still think that the ps3 will outsell the 360 handily this christmas, but i don't think we will be anywhere near a million units a week.

Its quite possible although I'm skeptical because the PS3's best week in its 3 year history was 609k. I don't remember if that was during Christmas or the MGS4 launch.

But It is quite possible since this is the first time the PS3 has been $300 and it has huge momentum. That means it has to increase its sales by 4x from what they're at now though.

I'd give it a 17% chance of happening.

Assuming there isn't a swing to 360 in US (which could happen due to price, MW2, attractive deals and bundles) and assuming the FF launch in Japan drives a big boost in HW (which it probably should) then the PS3 has a shot at this, although I see it as less likely vs more likely currently.

actually probably not, while microsoft it's moving more than sony last year, 360 it's doing worse ps3 last year, and the ps3 it's doing better than the 360 last year.
