There is a download that will allow your ps3 to play ps2 games on the PS store....Will that work with the slim?

Let's not kid our selves that MS took on the extended warranty of RROD out of some sense of honour or the essential goodness of the company. Their hand was forced by the high failure rate, and had they not provided extended coverage for RROD their console would have died out this gen and would be well back in third place by now. Either that, or they would have been forced into a radical redesign of the 360 to really eliminate the cause of RROD.

MS is not a more honourable corporation than Sony. And Sony isn't more honourable than Ninty. And Ninty is not more honourable than MS.

Whether to "do the right thing" by a consumer with a faulty product outside warranty comes down to the economics of the issue every time. Will it cost the company more to sort out the problem at no charge, or will it cost the company more in lost sales to not fix it for free? MS knew they stood to lose a lot more by not extending coverage. Sony, rightly so far it seems, decided it doesn't stand to lose by sticking to 1 year warranty for any PS3 faults. That's the advantage of having a reliable machine with a low failure rate.

I would actually argue Nintendo is more honorable... by necessity.

As you say, it comes down to economics... and being  a small company it's a larger risk to try an alienate your consumers... since if Nintendo alienates it's consumers... it has no buissness.  Unlike Sony or Microsoft who could wait until consumers comeback by the profitability of their other departments.  Or at least hold on longer if facing general losses.

How so? I'm just bringing up a legimate concern of mine, I'm looking for someone to counteract what I've said (in an intelligence manner of course).

You have under 100 posts. You are, therefore, a troll.

Until proven not a troll, everyone is a troll.

sorry, the answer is no. the reason is the emulation for PS2 for the slim ps3 is going to have to be ran straight from the Cell processor only, because the GS, and the PS2 chipset hardware was removed due to mainly cost cutting measure, and 2nd in time the PS3 should be able to emulate the PS2 ISA without the need of PS2 hardware. its just that the Emulator software would have to be built for the Cell from the ground up. Sony said the cost would have been about $100.00 added to the cost of the PS3. to have PS2 emulation on the PS3 without the PS2 hardware being in the PS3. so that's the main reason.

this may change in the future about ps2, but with the ps2 still selling as it is it may be or it may never even be implimented due to the cost in building the emulator from scratch.

NOTE: PS1 game's will play though due to not needing the ISA structure of the PS2

Sorry I havent read the whole thread but you dont buy consoles because of a Companys integrity thats stupid as long as it didnt have an affect on games. The Console is good it offers more value for the money then any other Console on the market. And the games are great. I would buy an Xbox too if Microsoft had another pricing strategy that makes the console way costlier for me then the PS3. And the few games I want to play are not worth it (for me).

If you like the games then buy it. Sony did NEVER let their Customers down NEVER. Infact they had the longest lasting consoles on the market of all. A PS2 offers even in it 9th year value for your money.

Sony is a thrustworthy company and would never kill of a Console (unlike some other Company). And the PS3 itself has the highest quality of all Sony Consoles.

The OP dont explain why you think the PS3 is not a good gaming console it explains why you dislike Sony. Thats why this could be considered as a troll Post. Its simply not objective. Because there is NO reason not to buy a PS3 IF you like the games. If you dont like the games you would be stupid to buy the console. Are the games worth the money yes or no everything else dont matter.
