I wouldn't be surprised if MS starts price cutting heavily to really hit Sony, taking a $100 off the elite (and phasing out the arcade), would really put Sony in a bind.

It will dominate, FF13 in a little over a month for Japan, followed by an unmatched world wide early 2010 lineup. Hit after hit, back to back for months leading straight into the arms of GT5 and GOW3, and that my friend is when people minds are gonna blow when they see PS3 and GT5 pulling Wii like numbers (both hardwaree and software.)

It peaked at it's third year, it may be true that it peaked at it's second "large spike", but if you'll check, that spike is after 140-150 from the PS2's launch.

That's because it launched early in Japan. See: America / Others

The PS2's biggest holiday boost (by far) was 2002, its second year on market.


Now, I don't necessarily think the Wii will overtake the PS2 sales in its current state. However, if Nintendo makes the right moves, it's definitely still possible (will be tough to keep it around as long as the PS2).

Btw, for the week ending 01st Nov, 2003, the PS2 did 363,349. So, the Wii is up for the week (over the PS2) by about 6%.

Even when you take the NA launch it comes out at

Year 1: 11,488,149
Year 2: 19,887,661
Year 3: 21,381,069
Year 4: 19,513,674

So you are still wrong it peaked in it's third year.
