So they will probably make that money back on the first week sales (1-1.5 first week

You can't be serious? I'm sure they'll have to sell several million to make up the cost of 60 million. They'll probably drop another 20 million on advertising.

If developers got the entire $60 for a each game sold I don't think so many would be bankrupt.

you cant be serious... Are you? Please tell me you arent. Being a first party developer sony probablly gets about 35 dollars per game. 2 million is several million to you?

You start off by mocking me. Yet you actually agree with me. Obviously they need to sell more than 1 or 1.5 million. And they'll have to sell more to cover the advertising. It'll definitely have a huge return but it'll first have to sell several million.

Which won't be an issue.

Oh God, you guys are missing the point.

I'm telling Avarice it'll have to sell far more than 1 or 1.5 million to see a profit.

Use your brains people.

And again, the game WILL sell far more than 1-1.5mill. I got your point. I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to figure this out (since you claim people aren't "using their brains").

Your condescending approach won't get you very far either.

Once again, I'm merely telling Avarice it will not profit at only 1 or 1.5 million sold.

How many copies this game will sell is not the discussion. Just pointing out 1.5 million sales won't cover the costs.

In a nutshell, your input was completely irrelevant.

$60 million is actually lower than I thought.

Has any game this gen surpassed that amount? Could be the most expensive game this gen.

I think that the problem is more the way it's coming across. 1.5 million is probably a bit low to recoup the $60m, but it's probably not *that* far off. At $35 per game, 1.7 million copies (approx) would recoup the $60m, meaning 1.5m is close enough. The way you said that 1.5 million copies won't cover the costs, and that several millions will be needed, sounds like you mean 3-4 million (or more), as 1.7-2.2ish million isn't that far from 1.5 million.

he isn't that far off, 2 millions copies will actually cover the 60 millions development costs ( the game is a first party so no licencing fees).

It might actually manage to do it with less because the franchise is more popular in Europe and with the current dollar-euro change 1.5 millions copies might make it as profit/game is higher in Europe..

For a first party the publisher gets roughly 30$/game or so in the US, so 50%.

Average price of a game is 90$ in Europe so if you apply those 50% you get 45$/copy.

1.5 millions *45 = 67.5 millions$...

Guess whose input was actually relevant......

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Did that include advertising? $100m just seems awfully high.

Actually, I was merely emphasizing that the game will do at least that (1-1.5mill), and thus profit should be easy, based on your perception. You went on this tirade because you thought someone was against you, when they weren't. Basically, you got all bent out of shape over nothing.

Emphasis was uncessarry. We already know it'll sell millions and there will be profit. Profit at only 1.5 million sold is unlikely.

End of discussion.

japan has a form of universal health care I believe. So healthcare would be irrelevant it is provided by the government.

if it's like France it comes in the form of taxes companies have to pay based on employees salaries so it comes to the same in the end and has to be counted...( someone pays for that healthcare in the end).

It is public and voluntary (you can choose not to have an insurance). The cost (for me, in '07-'08) was about 30$ per month.

It might be worth considering that salaries for "specialists" of any kind is generally lower in Japan than in the U.S. Of course, I don't know if that applies to PD, but I'd think it does.

^^ You perpetuated an argument over nothing. Just so we're clear.

Okay, and your input was common knowledge by confirming it will sell over 1.5 million. Thanks for the heads up!
